control arm rubbing against springs

my ride is lowered 1.75" front/1.5" rear on H&R sports with Tokico Illumina shocks. i hear it rub when i turn sharp and the spring compresses so i went and checked it out but the rubbing is not on the fender lining...its on the control arm part that runs up right in front of the spring.

i figure if i grind away 3-4mm in the spots its rubbing off the control arm it would clear ok. it actually has 3-4mm clearance right now but rubs so figure grinding is the way to go.

anyone else had this problem, i guess the stock springs were thin so it had enough clearance, but the H&R's are pretty thick so it rubs...even though it still shouldn't rub.

shocks are 2 front, 3 rear and i've tried 3 front, 4 rear but thats just too stiff for these roads, besides dosen't make a difference.

I had H&R Sports on a EK Sedan and never rubbed the control arm. Wouldn't it rub when you hit bumps too and not just when you turn?

when the wheels are straight the little notch in the top part of the control arm leaves 3-4mm, when turns slightly its like 2-3 then when turned all the way its 5-6mm, so i don't get why it rubs...i just know thats where all the marks are.

i've hit some big bumps near the 427 that got the suspension fully uncompressed then fully decompressed and oddly enough, no rub that i could hear. there is not one single other mark in the wheel well area and the drivers side is worse the the passengers judging by the rubbing marks on my poor H&R sports,

It was rust on my control arm which hit the H&R Sports when turning, I just grinded some of the rust off off and problem solved. Have never had another problem in the last year with any suspension now.

I also had never heard of this problem so it was very strange to me, but yup grinded the rust where it was hitting the spring and problem solved.
