Coilover's... Should I bother?

Coilover's... Should I bother?
I got a set of R1 Generation 2 Coilovers in my basement.
http://www.autotoysaz.com/r1rasige2co.html
0-4" adjustable.
I was thinking of throwing them onto the hatch and going maximum 1" down and back to 0 in the winter. (If I decide to drive it all year round)
I'm wondering if it's worth the effort, would it be worse than my stock springs w/360,000K on them?
The stock shocks are still in good shape. I don't want to spend any extra cash, basically I got them sitting around so I'm wondering if they'll provide a little better handling?
Anyone with experience on these kinds of coilovers or generic coilovers plz provide some input!
Thanks!

I had coilovers on stock struts on my 95 coupe for about a year. For the first 3 months they were ok, but after that the struts went to hell. If you don't want to spend the money on new struts in a couple of months then i say sell the coilovers. In my opinion coilovers are crap, but if u just want to lower your car and don't care about ride quality or handling then throw 'em on.
Oh and when i put the coilovers on, even at all the way up, it was about 1"-1.5" lower than stock, so don't expect to be able to raise it back up to stock height. At least i couldn't with the coilovers i had. And the handling got worse when i put them on because the car just wanted to bounce. I would say if you can spend the money on a good suspension set up cause you won't regret it....i don't regret it.

If you are going to do the install yourself (which i recommend b/c its not hard at all) then i'd say go for it....throw em in. You can always put it back to stock if you no likie

why not start off with some used GSR or ITR springs ... minimal drop, good rates. fawk cheap coilovers.
and get some new shocks for the love of god

Then stay stock... whats the point of blowing your stock shocks if you have no intentions of upgrading.
All you're going to be doing is bouncing up & down your street once you slam the car anyways.

you can not 'upgrade' <--- and I use that term loosely when talking about cheap coilovers, one aspect of a susp and expect to gain anything. a susp is a balanced system of geometry and carefully valved shocks and calibrated springs. If you change one of those things, it impacts the whole car. that's why you always change parts of a car as a complete system... if you change the susp, you change the springs and shocks at a minimum. If you change the brakes, you change the caliper size, you gotta upgrade the master cylinder as well.
lemme try to put it this way... it would be like putting on a Ractive header on your H22 with a stock VX exhaust. that's what you're doing if you put on coilovers and stock shocks.

just start saving for shocks... that mileage, and that much weight to throw around... in the next few months you'll need to be looking at some shocks. and the way I see it, if you're gonna get shocks soon, why not now?? I mean, you'll get to enjoy them for that much longer (the sooner you buy them). shocks plus some traction bars = $1500 well spent
