clutch noise
okay guys, I think I have a problem with my clutch. When the clutch is pressed all the way (to switch to a certain gear), I hear no noises what so ever and the car is sooo smooth. But when I start to release (to pick up some speed) the clutch and when its fully or almost fully released, I hear a squealing or scraping noise, what is the problem exactly? Sometimes I also have hard time putting the car in reverse (when it goes I hear grinding sometimes), any help would be really appreciated guys.

i had a similar problem with my old crx, it turned out to be the throwout bearing
and you probably hear grinds when you wanna put the car in reverse because you were trying to do it while the tranny gears had a bit of forward momentum and maybe your synchro isn't so good?

Don't know if this is really true but i was told that if you have trouble putting your car into reverse, put it into 1st gear first, then it will go into reverse after easier... anyone else know if this is true?

HI,
I was wondering if you figured out what the noise was in your clutch. I'm having the same problem and I've been told that if the noise comes even when u're in neutral then its your input shaft bearing in your tranny and not the clutch. In neutral the noise wont be as loud, but if you listen carefully in neutral with the clutch depressed there should be no noise, and when u release the clutch it will get a little noisy. I'm confused myself, as I replaced the entire clutch including the release bearing about 20,000km ago when I had the problem, it went away for about 500km then came back......

if its your input shaft bearing the noise will be there ALL the time.. clutch down, up, in gear, neutral, driving, stopped, etc.
Release bearing is there all the time as well except when you put your foot down on the clutch.
Relase bearing labour is around 5.5hrs so 85-95x5-6 hours. Theres your rough labour charge.

its the release bearing, I figured it out. the labour is about 200 bucks, so u might as well put a new clutch in.
