Clutch Install
Hi, I have a 1991 Honda Civic W/ a B16A swap. Im Putting a ACT 6 Puck Unsprung Clutch, Extreme Pressure Plate, and a Pro-Lite Fly Wheel. Im not quite sure if i trust myself on doing the clutch job, if anyone knows how to, could they give me a brief play-by-play on what and how to do the swap. If there is anyone with nut and bold step-by-step directions that are willing to tell me, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Cheers

thanks for the advice. iv read most underestimated is the clutching asspect. im running block guard, head gap, 20 lbs of boost with Greddy e-manage. trying to hit about 300 wheel, thought the heaviest clutch wouldnt fail, plus planning on doing more upgrades next winter (2008). dont want to worry about things a second time around.

what size turbo?
I'd hope you would be well over 300whp at 20psi.
I'm guessing the bottom end is filled with forged goodies....if you plan on running 20psi.
I'd also suggest at a minimum 550cc injectors and a good tune with crome/hondata. Definately ditch the emanage, unless its the only thing any tuner near you will touch.
20psi and i'd be thinking about something better than 94 octane.
A heavy pressure plate and light flywheel with a cable tranny makes for a killer clutch pedal feel.
Theres a good how-to on c-speedracing.com and i'm sure you could find one on honda-tech.

probably a small greddy 16G turbo or something.. Those kits max out at 300whp, you will probably need more boost then 20psi lol.
The emanage is garabage, as well as any other piggy back system, its easy enough if your just boosting 7-8psi on the kit to make some turbo noises. Maybe add 35-40whp.
Get it street tuned with crome at the very least, as far as the clutch, it will be fine. My friend runs a 6 puck unsprung on his NA gsr. As far as the cluth being too much.. its more or less the PP that deals with pedal stiffness, the differences in plates will just dictate how fast it engages. With the unsprung your diff/bearings get to act like springs, lots of fun. You dont need that clutch for 300whp. Im running the basic organic full disc with heavy duty plate, and it dosent slip at the track with hook.. 1.8 60ft. Your choise though, i would recommend a full orgainc disc, with a xtreme plate.
Clutch isnt the hardest to do, Just use red loctite on the PP bolts, and torque to spec. 23ft/lbs i believe, and you need to do alot more research on your setup, since you do plan to tune with emanage. 20psi should net you right around 400whp on a 1.6L (on a properly built setup) probably do it on pump if the tuner is up for the challenge along with your setup.
goodluck.
