cleaning engine and tranny
I have an engine and transmission in my garage, and I want to clean them up b4 i swap it into my car next month. What would be the best way to clean them (what product) so that it looks brand new when i drop it in? Is the anything that i should know, so that i dont mess things up (swap is intact and complete)? should i use varsol?
PS. I searched already and didnt fiind anything, that answers my question specifically |
I'd use engine degreaser and a wire brush. Then just hose it off. Watch any electronics that may still be attached. (sensors etc.) Also you could pull of your valve cover and repaint or powdercoat it.

pressure washer unless you like scrubbing

I would stay away from the pressure washer... honda cylinders are sealed pretty well from the plug caps, but I wouldn't take that chance. Besides, with high pressure you're just begging to screw up sensors and other electrical no matter how well you cover them.
Degreaser and a wire brush is definitely the way to go. Then rinse with a soft stream of water, and repeat whole process if needed. Alot of people love the Gunk products, others say they're a big ferking mess. I'm a fan of Simple Green. Good luck. |
ya simple green is good stuff thats what i used
