Cheapo Tach

I have an automatic (*shudders*) 93' DX Coupe.. it has no tach, and i was at walmart last week and saw a cheap tach that has adjustable redline up to like 8500.. it was only like 28$ and wasn't offensivly large and ugly. How hard would it be to install something like that? A easy under-one-hour-one-man job?

imported_loudsubz 29-Jan-2004 09:45 PM

took me 15 min

i have the exact model

imported_Syphon 29-Jan-2004 09:46 PM

How do you install it out of curiosity.. what does it hook up to?

imported_loudsubz 29-Jan-2004 10:15 PM

red goes to switched +12v on the fuse panel

blk goes to ground on the chasis

the white can be tied in with the +12v as well, that just means the light will stay on as long as the car is on

or you can tap into your driving lights

green is tach wire, there is a small blue wire under the hood by the firewall on the drivers side, you can tap into that for a tach signal

imported_gatherer 29-Jan-2004 10:41 PM

I'd help you do it .... not hard

imported_toyman29 29-Jan-2004 11:08 PM

the only hard part is finding the wires

well for me it was b/c i didnt know which ones they were.. there were tons

but its straight forward for me now b/c i've done it..

now you done did it :D

yeah... there is NO right way to mod a car. We mod it to suit OUR needs, not what some JDM purist may conceive as the perfect car  Actually, that's why I was banned from jdmcivic.com :p
