Cel :(

Ive been getting mixed answers... so i thought id ask you guys... last nite i was driving to get gas shifted into third gear and "blink" CEL comes on mikepasini and i ran the paperclip code reader (You can get them from OfficeDepot for like 3 bucks :D) and it threw these codes.in this particular order

9 FAST
1 SLOW
5 FAST

Im still getting mixxed answers on how to read that... anyone know the real deal... thanks in advance....

and before chris decides to tell me to SEARCH i already did and im still not sure.... thanks

imported_weiRtech 15-Jun-2006 03:37 PM

i'd say code 9 and 15.

Bryce 15-Jun-2006 03:44 PM

code 9 is aparently the CYP Sensor... or no. 1 cylnder position sensor... how.. wtf is that lol and how does it just go..... and 15 is my ignition output signal? it doesnt make sense to me that any of that **** could just happen..... you sure ?

cibs 15-Jun-2006 04:24 PM

ya i'd agree... 9 and 15 ...

if that's how it's blinking then that's what it is... try resetting your ECU (disconnect the battery for like 1 min and then reconnect it) and then start the engine again to see if the codes return...

Bryce 15-Jun-2006 04:41 PM

alright ill give the reset a shot ... do i need to pull a backup fuse? my ECU Is Hondata100 with a skunk2 obd2 conversion harness

gooseshit 15-Jun-2006 05:10 PM

is ur car running like ****

Bryce 15-Jun-2006 07:47 PM

My car is fully tuned... its running fine... it was idling funny thiws morning.. but it corrected itself but withint the last week my car .. everytime i downshift to 2nd it just shuts off... power is all on.. but car turns off like into ACC mode with the key turned to on.. that sthe only problem i had today and before...

Oh and mike heard about the the insurance and glad to hear everything worked out

Bryce 15-Jun-2006 08:02 PM

OK just ran the codes again.. its 9 FAST long pause
1 LONG no pause then a quick 5 so it does seem like

a 9 & a 15... anyone give me advice on these codes?

goose****.. mike just called me and we tried it your way its definately a 9 and a 15

9 is a CYP-Cylinder Sensor

15 is a Ignition Output Signal... (This maybe why my car just shuts off)

zeeman 15-Jun-2006 08:44 PM

sounds like your dizzys on the fritz.
Got any buddys with the same engine so you can try theirs?

Bryce 15-Jun-2006 09:31 PM

Andrew... is the car still safe to drive... ? I plan on just changing the dizzy... im not sure why it fawked up in the first place though...

zeeman 15-Jun-2006 10:23 PM

stuff just breaks for no reason, outta the blue like this. Thats what cars do.
If the cars running ok and it doesn't misfire and turn itself off randomly than sure. I mean its only a no-spark situation, its not like the engine will blow up. It just won't run. Engines need 3 things to run, air, fuel, spark. If 1 of the 3 isn't present, the engine will not run or will run very poorly.
But CEL's are there for a reason, and its cool that we don't need to bring the car in to get scanned for a diagnostic fee.

imported_mikepasini 15-Jun-2006 10:35 PM

how much time would it take to just swap the two and see if it throws any codes... are we talking whole dizzy here? cap and rotor?

zeeman 15-Jun-2006 10:47 PM

it would take 20 minutes to swap dizzys. Its 3 12mm bolts, a connector (or 2) and the 4 plug wires.
Make sure to use a timing light to make sure the base timing is correct. And make a mark on your dizzy (where the top bolt is) before you remove it so you can line the dizzy back up afterwards so you'll know that its in there like it was before.

Bryce 16-Jun-2006 04:51 AM

yeah thats what im wondering my motor has a mark on the dizzy im guessing all i do is line that up to a new one? i can post pics if needed...

zeeman 16-Jun-2006 07:57 PM

yes post pics.
The mark i am talking about would be where the yellow mark is that has the arrow pointing to it.

You cant **** up puting that distributer in, its notched, it can only go in 1 way. If you manage to put it in backwards, turn around, walk to the antenna and sit on it.

:haha: nice

Bryce 17-Jun-2006 03:15 AM

my dizzy is notched.. should be fine matching it up. :S

zeeman 17-Jun-2006 10:20 AM

yea, a dizzy will only fit properly the 1 way. But to make sure you try to get the ignition timing set back to where it was before you removed it, make a line, b/c as you rotate the dizzy (forward or back) you are advancing/retarding the ignition timing. The only way to really set the timing is with a timing light. Without one, make a mark, so you can line the dizzy back up with how it was before.

Bryce 17-Jun-2006 10:55 AM

thanks andrew! You use "retarding" that word alot i like.. haha

now i just need to go buy a dizzy... where... i dunno
