Broken Dizzy?
My cars been making this horrible noise for the last two weeks.Today the CEL came on so i checked for codes and it gave me 8 flashes which is the TDC sensor. I priced a new dizzy at napa and they want 513.14 plus tax. do you guys know how long it has to drive and if anyone has changed one before can you give me some advice. thanks
my car has lost alot of power, idles very low(500 and lower rpms) and when it makes the grinding noises the tach jumps.

pick up a second hand dizzy.. or go to ******** and buy one for like 200-250$ bran new I think..
Um.. when you remove the dizzy..I find it always easiest to set it to TDC mark the housing in relation to the head. Then remove it.
Now make sure the rotor on the new dizzy is facing to cylinder #1 and slide it in (make sure it's fully in, you'll feel it)
Then just try your best to eyeball where the line was on the old housing, and line the 'marks' up. I did it with this method, then checked it with a timing light and I was dead on 16BTDC.
But obviously it's best to check with a timing light to make sure your timing is set right, cause with A/M dizzy's sometimes they don't have excatly the same housings.

you can put it in *** backwards.
You dont need to put it to TDC, but for a newb its always best because if you forget which way it does go in.. you'll know its at TDC (cyl. 1). Even though it's pretty hard to put it in backwards.. but I've seen some people do some pretty stupid ****.

its been a wile since i replaced mine.. but i think that the tabs on it are different sizes so you cant put it in backwards.. but i could be wrong. but im sure its possible to put it in backwards if they are different sizes.. people do do some pretty stupid ****.
