Brakes went to the floor.

Ok here is something i dun understand. My gf's car brake pedal went to the floor and i had to pump it a few times to get the brake pedal feel. Anyways the Master cylinder went so i change to a new 1. Not rebuilt. Now sometimes she drives it, she tells me that it goes to the floor too. Like the pedal is low. When i drive it it never happens. I even went to Niagria falls and back with it and it feels so good the brakes. The brakes are adjusted properly. It is a eg hb with drums at the back. The brake pedal feels good and not that low, but she tells me like very rare but once or twice the pedal went low again. How could that be. Everything is new and i've changed it already. I dun think there is any air inside the system also because it actually stops good and i've bleed to make sure there is no air.

The rear drums have like 90% shoes left. The front have like 80% pads left, but i've notice that the front rotors are pretty thin. Could that be the problem? Because if the rotors are thin. then the pistons will push more out so maybe it went to the floor once in a while. Other than that i dunno what could cause it the pedal to go low.

I know is not the brake booster because if that goes, the pedal will go really hard. What other possibility could it be? I dun think it is default master cylinder. It is a eg civic hb 92. Any help will be appreciated.

We are going to put a set of Hawk Hp plus in and change the rotors and hopefully it will go away and this time it will stop like no tomorrow. Because u know it is very dangerous to drive like this and we just brought the car like 1 month ago. I dun want my gf to get a car that she feels dangerous because she keeps telling me that she almost hit a car in front of her when she can't brake and it freaks her out. I just tell her to pump the pedal a couple of times if u get no brake pedal. Any help will be appreciated.

I had the same problem where my pedal would sink all of a sudden and it would be very dangerous. I had to end up stopping a lot shorter jsut to make sure my pedal wouldn't sink or if it did, that I would have enough time to pump and build pressure to stop in time. Mine was the master cylinder, and even though you have replaced yours, there is a good chance it went bad again or perhaps your brake lines are pooched.

check if theres a leak by the wheel cylinder, very common. Could just be a bad wheelcylinder.

The only way the pedal drops or creeps to the floor.. is by a leak or a bad master cylinder. Since you already replaced your MC, my bet is on a tiny leak somewhere, either in a flex hose or WC

sounds like a leak. I have a small leak on one of the flex lines on the front drivers corner. I notice break fluid build up around the area and have to top up every 5-6 months.

My pedal never goes right to the floor, just once in a blue moon it will go down furthur then normal, still stops fine. I will get around to fix it one of these days, hopefully before i rear-end someone

did you bench bleed the MC before putting it on?

Of course i've bench bleed the mc before i put it on.

What do u mean the dust boot cups? I've checked everything. I use a screw driver to look inside the wc and no signs of leak or fluid.

the little rubbe black pieces on each end of the wc are dust boots. But usually from an external inspection you can't really see a small wc leak, thats why i asked if you looked inside

yes, thanks. I've checked that myself already, but rite now it is fine at the moment. I just put in a set of front hp plus and a new set of rotors. Hopefully this will make the car stop better or even if the pedal does go to the floor the plus will help it slow down a lot faster.
