Brake Shoes
While swapping out the brake shoes i noticed that one side of the shoe is thinner than the other side of the same shoe. Its like this on both sides. Now is this normal? if not what causes this? Thanks!!

is it the primary or secondary shoe?
its prolly time for a new combi-spring kit...usually one shoe (primary) wears out faster than the other one
and for sides are we talking from top to bottom or left to right on the shoe?

so the top is worn more than tha bottom I'm guessing...if so thats kinda normal cuz the wheel cylinder pushes out from the top...the springs and such are supposed to even out the pressure so u get even wear...get a new spring kit and u should be good

why, so brake jobs can cost more?
rear drums are more than sufficient on a civic, there arent many gains with a rear disk setup other than looks and forkin out more money for brake jobs
long live the rear drum!

that is normal, every car has a leading shoe and a trailing shoe, the leading shoe is pushed into the drum by force and that shoe will wear quicker, some times at the dealer when ppl are cheap they only want to change the worn out one. On some domestics, they are actually thicker on the leading shoe. So in short, its normal!!
