I don't have the Vibrant one, though I was reading on their site that it is a "straight through" design. So i assumed it was loud. If it's quiet and looks stock like then that's what i need.

Anyone have any decent sound clips or video's of different mufflers in action.

Like I said before, Magnaflow. I think they sound great on our cars, and are not loud at all. Once you step on it then you can hear it, but under normal driving conditions it sounds like a 350z . OR get the WS2 if you really want it quiet. OR get a silencer. OR stick an orange in your exhaust.

Do a search on honda-tech for sound clips. The muffler has some weight and the black coating is very thick for protection. I was going to buy an oval magnaflow and paint it black, but decided to try the Vibrant after the reviews.

Why no love for the Greddy EVO exhausts? I was thinking of snatching up a set to replace my SIR exhaust.

i have the vibrant stealth muffler 2'5 inlet and outlet, its not loud on normal driving, but if you pass 3500 rpm then it gets loud...if you have a d series engine its not going to be loud but 1.8 and up you'll better run a resonator!!! the flat black look really looks good ill post pic later!!!

I currently have a 2.25" system, 22" vibrant resonator, high flow cat, and a round tip magnaflow canister........ im running a jdm d15b, stock header.

My take on the sound:

1. At idle it sounds nice, not loud.

2. When accelerating from a standstill, it gets a bit too annoying. A definite d-series sound and a bit too much air escaping (my take is a bit too much causing a loss in my backpressure).

3. When opening it up at wot - it sounds great, really screams and has an even deep tone, but don't expect a quiet ride at 100km/h +. Its almost ear plug territory.

4. I ran this system without a resonator, and it sounded like S$*T, the brutally known "Honda rasp". But with the resonator it cleaned up the sound.

PLEASE NOTE : a resonator will rarely make your exhaust system quieter.... it will however eliminate the annoying rasp.

To conclude : with all of the highway driving I do, I am picking up my WS2 Noir tomorrow if anyone wants to hear it on a d-series... I will post clips of my Magnaflow system as well as the new cat back Noir.

Hope this helps those of you looking for an exhaust system.

If anyone wants my Magnaflow setup, PM me, shes for sale and is only 4 months old.

Cheers!

^^^ found that the resonator didn't quiet down an exhaust as well. Your right about it getting rid of the raspy popping and such. Heck I have tried 3 different mufflers including the WS2 and nothing is that quiet on the Highway with my B-Series.

I had a dc jdm 4-1 with skunk2 catback (loud enough, but quiet enough with silencer to not **** off cops), then I switched to a mugen-jasma header with apexi ws2 and it was very quiet (even in vtec with skunk cams). The setup made more power at 3-5k, with a little less at 8-9k, but the noise factor was amazing and overall the car saw much less time in vtec with the added low end torque.

Don't waste your time or money with Magnaflow - the world sport was engineered to make power and be quiet for the engine. Not to diss HR Scott, but my first setup was a magnaflow from his shop and it didn't make power, but instead so much noise he installed a second resonator for free - I woke up the neighborhood at idle. the skunk setup was significantly quieter.

The mugen twin-loop is also pretty good (but get the real thing - the knock off aren't the same built quality - just the look).

There is someone selling a 6-month old WS2, and mint condition mugen-jasma header in the classified section.

i have a type R midpipe, rsx-x muffler custom made to fit a 98 hatch, it is quiet and its definity give you more than the stock exhaust, but if you want somehting that gives you performace and quiet sound, I would say WS2 or RS-R

I have a 2.5" mandrel with (no cat) magnaflow high flow res.
and a magnaflow oval race muffler. It's not to loud on normal driving but on Open throttle it's LOUD. But not the gay rice loud.

I am selling a muffler btw Brospeed ( not even 1 yr old ) with a maganflow tip ( few mths old ) for $80 obo. Some of you might remeber it from kc or the tcc meets.

open dp.

why not get an exhaust based on peformance and quality, rather than basing your decision on which one sounds nicest?

I have a tanabe axle-back with stock resonator and cat.

Sounds pretty good, drones a bit around 3500 and really talks when you hit vtec!!

I kinda like the crackly poping of a more open exhaust, but thats just me.

On a budget, go with magnaflow...by far the best sound and bang for your buck.

mine sounds the best...

the cop told me that in kitchener when i got pulled over... he said its sounds real nice and probably sounds exactly the way i want it to, but he said it will keep getting me pulled over ("it has a nice sounds to it, but i don't know what my partner is going to do" -- anyone ever hear that before")--- as he hands me my noise ticket...
