I'd say personally go with the b18b cause it's cheap and is a good base for modding..it's good for turbo and all motor..and mayeb ls/vtec if you got lot's of $$$ later on...but for the best base I'd say ls...but for jsut a peppy little rever that you dont' plan on doing more than i/h/e then b16

once you go h22 you never look back....it's all relative

b18b for future major hp (boost, lsvtec)

or b16 for a peppy littel car to boot around in (i/h/e max mod)

Just too many possibilities. It is all about how much money you have to spend, whether you wanna do it now, or a year after, or 5 years later, or whatever. I won't do my engine but even if I do, I am still lost as to what engine to go with, or just build up the D16, and save the hassle of being bother by cops if I get pulled over.

You gotta ask your self a couple things:

1) your budget?

2) how much HP/TQ do you want?

3) worry about getting checked under the hood?

b18c-r will smoke a 22 any day of the week

22's have a false sense of acceleration due to the higher torque, when in actual reality, the c-r will beat the 22.

i beg to differ on that one.

how do you figure????? ok lets get this straight..
heavy motor for FWD DRAG racing???

H22 all the way.
road track - B18c1/5 all the way.

there are advantages to motors... none of them are a downfall, it all depends on what u want to do and what kind of racing.

B18A/B is a all around good motor and cheap. very easy to find.
easy to mod.. gobs of torque, lots of mods for it....
dont underestimate the B16 either....

a good running B16 will be equal par to a B18c1,
id basically say its a drivers race.... no doubt in my mind...

B16 runs the same head as the ITR, so parts are interchangable with less modifying......

i hate how people underate the B16...
but hey to eachh his own,

il stick with my B16 and ill be working with it.

LOL, the casting of the b16 head and type-r head is the same........but the itnernals, port work is different. Find a good running b16 that can keep up with my b18c hatch, buddy i eat b16s for breakfast lunch and dinner.

As for h22 vs b18c-r..... have u even seen dyno graphs for both? There have been countless threads on honda-tech comparing both motors. For straight line speed, b18c-r will win in any given situation.

H22 is far superior tho on the circuit, good amount of torque out of the corners.

And for GOBS of torque.... non of our hondas have it buddy, so get that straight.

Oh, and i guess you love your b16 , thats cool, try and find a fast all motor b16 in a street car, u have to spray them or force feed them to be fast.

Glad you have done research, and you have the budget to play. But since you know the stats on all of them, then why not trust your own knowledge and information and go with it?

Anything will perform better when you have the money. Even a D16 can be a nice little toy when you dump money on it.

Its not trusting my own knowledge, its just having imput. the B18c is my favourite motor cause it is so easy to pump it up, and the torque on that engine takes most cars off the line. Plus its a cheap swap, and the best turbo motor...just seeking imput from those who have already travelled the road im about to take. thanks to all, appreciate the info and the personal feedback

B18C turbo, that's a good choice. I have sat in one of the member's car who has that set up. Sick pull and that will be more power than you will ever need if you just gonna drive the car around the town.

any Dohc motor is a good install for you....they are all reliable and fun to drive. What u have to decide, is what mods u will considering in the future!! thats is the main thing. Are u planning on installing a transplant and leaving it stock?? if so...b18c5 is ur best bet (lots of dollas!!). If ur planning on doing some general n/a mods...I would go with gsr(b18c1) or even a b16a. As for the h22..it is a good transplant..but there is more involved in the install...not as straight forward as a b-series and this would be kind of a big deal if u were doing the install urself. Therefore, the main thing u have to decide now is what ur plans are for the future. Trust me...It will end up saving u money in the long run if u spend u money wisely but picking a power plant that will suit ur future goals!...hint hint...boost ....goodluck

whoever said B18C-r will outaccelerate an H22A has clearly taken a lot of drugs false sense of acceleration

the best motor technologically is a B18C and the best motor overall is the H22A
