Hi, sorry to interrupt the discussion for a minute but I have a few questions ('hope you don't mind and don't mind answering):
1) what do you think of this link?: http://hybrid2.honda-perf.org/tech/badidea.html (especially directed at those swapping H22 engines in civics/integras) 2) how much is labour for a swap, typically? (i.e. on average) 3) if you were considering an investment in a car such as a civic or integra and was thinking about a swap, which car would you choose? e.g. option #1) '95-'99 Civic Si/R and a B18? option #2) '95-'99 Integra B18C1/B18C5 or? Is one or the other any cheaper to do? It sounds like the Civic would be a bit more expensive but I'm not sure. Does it matter if you buy an older car? I was thinking of looking for a '98 or '99 that's cheap (based on low kms) but with the body in very good to mint condition (if it's possible to find). I considered an older Accord with an H22 (thinking it would be a much cheaper investment) but the labour is more expensive and probably parts would be, too, when doing maintenance. Finally, some questions about maintenance. If you need to do ball joints or some work on your own (*DIY), does that become a problem? I assume any suspension parts would be based on the new engine? Thus, you'd buy axles/c.v. shafts for the new engine? I guess I got away from the B20 discussion. Is it a problem getting parts for a car equipped with the B20 series engine? |
that link must be old. remove stock mounts and relocate newer ones? some guys here love the swap but some don't. it all depends what you want. you want to go fast in a straight line or are you a road course kind of guy? if i were to do it all over again, i would buy a 99-00 hatch or a integra and do a b20vtec motor. after sitting in miles car i was just amazed by the torque and how well it handled in a crx platform. try buying a newer honda, you won't be plagued with rust problems if you find a good one.
