b20 bottom to D series top

I just got a mag and something really got me thinking about the next thing.

It features a civic B16 top with a B20 bottom with make more trq.

Due to insurance etc... I can't have this setup. I am thinking of SI top and B20 bottom....Possible?

nope.

The bore center - center measurement is different between the two -- the combustion chambers won't line up with the pistons.

What's the problem with your insurance company? Are they running numbers on motors now to make sure that the car isn't modified before agreeing to insure it?

I have to get pics by some insurance garage, every year, funny thing is, I don't hear anyone elese having to go through this. That was before my accident, so, add the two equals bad thing.

So, a B16 top has the same cylinder bore? or many more grinding to the top end?

I need the car to look stock.

Can't D ---> B series, true.... what about imitation covers, say DOHC with an imitation SOHC cover. Any company can customize this for me? Meaning, DOHC setup, but SOHC looks.

can't be done ... a dohc cover is bigger to cover the extra cam

now if you want to have fun...

bore and storke a d16y7 out to 2.0 liters and have it built for NA power and there you go a engine that looks stock but makes 20+ horsepower with tons of low end grunt....

The b16a head has the same cylinder center - center spacing, but a smaller bore. Visit a reputable performance shop and talk to them about what you want.

Can you get away with swapping a b-series into the car, stock black vtec valve cover, stock airbox, stock exhaust manifold?

Actually, I wonder if you could put a built b-series in there, use the JDM 4-1 header with heat shields (looks stock, right?), running to a custom 2.5" exhaust system ending in a stock looking but 2.5" in/out oval muffler.

Get some large diameter stock tube and airbox from an NSX or legend v6 or oddesey, cut a hole in the bottom of the box and add a custom cold air setup, which could easily be removed for visual.

All the really fun mods would be hidden inside the engine...

Stock looking, 180whp b-series! yay!
