I'm wondering if I could source a B16b and stuff it into my 93 civic hb?

You could but imo the price isn't worth it. Just go with a b16a2.

if you already have a b16a then I say go big for your next swap get a b20 and slap the b16a head on it ... no replacement for displacement

The hatch is light enough that a 'done' b16a is wicked fast. ctr cams, mild p&p, and ctr pistons more or less is a b16b. For cost difference of a b16b over the b16a you could make your current motor pull over 180whp. For a little more you could do a turbo. The problem with pistons is getting high octance gas for the 12:1 or higher compression.

type r head, high compression pistons, counter-weighted crank, balanced/lightened rods, type r intake manifold. Makes 185hp @ 8200 rpm compared to 170hp @7800 on a jdm b16a

How hard would it be to find CTR cams and pistons?

Yes, and not hard if you have $$$. Cams are $850 USD for the pair, and the pistons are not as much, like $300 USD or thereabouts. I'm not 100% on the pistons, but I saw them for that much before.

Seems like everyone here thinks they know how to build an engine, but I'd really love to know how many ppl that posted here actually have a modified engine?? Like B20VTEC Turbo....haha...what kind of a suggestion is that, and do you even know the work involved. Sure, it's been done very well before, but do you ACTUALLY think that someone here can build it themselves without dumping about $8K plus into the engine alone, plus tranny etc....

Atomic EG, what is your budget. W/o knowing your budget I can't answer ****. What's they car gonna be used for? Need both total budget and engine budget, and what's already been done to your car. Mileage and condition would also help...

Susupension already has teins RA or HA...wanna get strut braces
Engine is a JMD b16a with Dc sports header, AEM CAI, ITR factory exhaust
Rims are these JDM honda rims in 4 bolt pattern...The car completed as of now has no more than 5000 km.... engine had 45000 km when purchased and installed...Now what I wanna spend is another 1500-2500 dollars

What purpose are you building your car for?
Track car or spirited street driving?

if its Track... quarter mile or Circuit?
What ECU are you running?
Have your tracked or Dyno'd your car?

If you're just looking for blow 1500-2500 just give it to me...

The question is really: What do you want to accomplish?

You really need to have a better objective other than:
"I wanna spend $1500-2500, whats the best way to spend it?"

The best way to spend it, is probably to dump it into RRSPs
