For about the same price you can a B18C5.

It should... bolt right up and change the ECU of course.

Now the question is are you going to drop the $5K just for the engine?

the b16b tranny pwnsU!!!!!

i would run it with some stage 3 cams and stroke it!!!

oh, i have never heard of a vtec controller blowing a motor, but if you are getting a swap then i guess you would use it if you are running a ctr computer, but i am pretty sure honda selected the best point for vtec on that motor just like the itr... i wouldn't be moving it around unless you change some internals and if you change internals then you are going to need a custom chip which means a chipped computer and then you will just adjust your vtec accordingly...

there is a guy with a yellow itr with a b16b on the hwy and it was slow... well, not as fast in the heavier car... stupid things ppl do with money

The engine will work fine in your car. Harness stays, and I would get the matching ECU as a replacement.

That's not your typical B16B in that yellow ITR.

if you want torque you'll have to increase displacement, you won't be happy with a b16b, they don't have too much more torque than a b16.
Do a b20 bottom end if you're after torque, it'll be a fration of the cost of a b16b too.

unfortunately, you're not going to be much better off if you swap it out for the B16B in terms of torque. you'll get a bit more HP (185 at the flywheel?) but it's pretty much the same as your B16A2 in terms of torque.

the tranny on the B16B isn't the greatest either. You're better off getting the JDM ITR if you want more torque, more power, and a better tranny. The B16B tranny has a 4.4final drive whereas the JDM ITR tranny is a 4.7final drive.

rev-wise, both these motors rev to 8400rpm (on stock internals, ecu, etc..). the B16B is basically a de-stroked ITR motor. deck height is the same. cams are the same as a '00 ITR as well.

for the cost of a B16B, i think you'll find a lot of people recommending the ITR instead.

however, if you want to be different, go for the CTR motor. it does have that 'rare' factor to it.

wow someone who actully knows what a b16b engine really is...

not may people have actully seen one apart, its a b16 crank in a b18c/c5 block with long rods (p72 stamping but with an S stamped on the beam & they are longer than the b18c rods too) and higher compression pistons...

lol, it's cuz there's one at the local shop i go to. it cost more than my JDM ITR motor but i wanted to do research on it first before i decided on a motor.

seems like it's good if you're competing only a class where there's a 1600CC limit to engine displacement. and also the bling/rare factor of course!

and yah, i forgot about the CTR pistons...i think compression isn't too high though in a CTR...those pistons seem to bump up B16A's and ITR's to almost 12:1 comp, yet i believe the CTR was only 11:1?
