B16A2 Part Swap W/ B18B Questions

Hi,

B-series engines have many interchangeable parts. First my idea was to do a LS/VTEC. But I like the B16A2 block alot better because it has the oil jets under the cylenders that lube and cool the pistons. But Im told B18B bottem end has madd torque and now that everyone is droppin K's i think id like some extra kick outta the original gangster B-Series motor. I alredy have the B16A2 motor and the B18B motor.

I wonder if the B18B Crank And Connecting Rods would be a good idea to swap into the B16A2 Block With Stock PR3 (sir) pistons.

I'm a student that drinks grape drink and i will be droppin this engine my daily driven EK.

Thanks for reading my post and Please Post me uer thoughts or info.

THANK YOU

LS crank and rods won't fit into a b16 without these real nasty tech49 pistons with the wrist pin uber high in the piston, its actually so high that its up in the oil control ring. People have had a lot of problems with oil consumption b/c of the piston design.
If you're broke lsvtec isn't for you. If you're going to do it do it right the first time. Don't just slap a vtec head on a LS block.

Im broke but not Stupid

Thanks for uer input guys

I pulled the head off the B16A2 motor and removed the pistons and rods from the block. The B16A2 was supercharged befor and blew all 4 pistons but the cylendr walls are still mint. I picked up a set of PR3 (sir) pistons, rings and pins. I plan on doing a full rebuild and to port the inlet ports of the head.

As for the B18B it is all apart and im just waiting and worndering if i should use it or not.

I wanted to know if the B18B crank and Rod swap was a good idea for the B16A2 block. I know "Spoon Sports" sells a 1.6 to 1.8 conversion Stroke Kit for B16 blocks that includes crank, rods, piston. No matter how much money a save from drinking grape drink in stead of grape juice I dont see myself buying a Brand name Stroke Kit.

Unless i get a donation of tech49 pistons that Zeeman was talking about im going to rebuild a stock B16A2 bottom end. Any Ideas how to build HP in an N/A set up?

well since the block is apart and you said the pistons were blown (whatever that means) do yourself a huge favour and get the block bored .5mm over and get .5mm oversized pistons. You can thank me later for that.
Also get some higher compression pistons (ctr's are decent) or mill the head a bunch to get the CR up. Don't bother trying to port anything yourself, you will do more harm than good. There is no benefit to opening up the size of the intake ports, i suggest you do a lot of research on porting b16 heads before you even think of touching that head with a grinder. Porting a b16 head is more in the bowl work and valve job, not making the intake/exhaust ports larger in diameter.
Then pick up a good set of cams and matching valve train, some adjustable cam gears and all of the bolt ons and you should make some decent numbers. Oh, and don't forget about tuning, tuning is very important.
I wouldn't use the tech49 pistons even if they were given to me for free.
