B16A2, ITR valve springs & GS-R ECU

I have a couple questions here that somebody will hopefully be able to help me with....

First off, I have a 2000 civic SiR with the B16a2 engine in it. I want to run ITR valve springs, just the intakes because the b16a2 intake springs are the same as ITR exhaust springs (i believe). Also i want to run a GS-R ECU (to rev to 9k).

Now my questions are:

-Will the gsr ecu just plug right into the b16 harness?

-How much and where can I find a gsr ecu?

-Will the gsr ecu allow 9000rpms with no modifications?

-Will all my gauges etc., cruize control and everything, be effected by the gsr ecu?

-Will the gsr ecu throw a cel(check engine light)?

-How much and where can I find ITR intake valve springs?

Thanks guys,

Correct me if I am wrong but if you run a 1.8L ecu on a 1.6L engine, would it not run rich?

the gsr ecu controls the secondary butterflys in the intake manifold,
u dont want to use unless ur change to a gsr intake manifold,
the ecu will thro a cel,
the gsr ecu wont allow 9000rpms,
any ecu will need to be chipped for that level of rpm,
u will need tuning at those are rpm levels,

Uh.....secondary butterflys? What are you smoking dude? All B series engines have only one throttle body or "butterfly" at the entrance of the intake manifold....And the gsr ecu would control everything on the gsr engine as my B16 ecu controls on my engine.....not just one component of the engine....

gsrs have an intake manifold with secondary butteryflies that open up at 5700 (around there). This is also known as the IAB.
You cannot use a gsr intake manifold on a b16/itr head, the bolt pattern is different.
I wouldn't rely on ITR valve springs to handle 9000rpms. Besides you would want the ITR valve springs for the exhaust side, b/c the b16 only uses single springs on the exhaust side.
Why would you want to rev to 9000rpms anyways? Stock b16 cams don't make any power past 7600rpms. So, unless you change your cams to something aftermarket i wouldn't rev that high. And if you do use aftermarket cams i would use aftermarket valve springs/retainers.

Well aren't we friendly! Guess I should have expected at least one of you on this forum....

Oh well, I stand corrected..... 92extremehatch, you are right, I apologize....

I have done some homework on this and honestly thought that all b series engines had similar, NOT THE SAME, but similar intake manifolds......

Thanks for the info guys, really helps, I'm still green in the Honda info area.....

Just a note: Zyepher, I joined this forum hoping to not get treated like a bag of sh*t.....guess i was wrong.

if u want to run 9000 rpm u can run it as u motor sits.... like some one said u have to tune it a littal bit.......... but rememebr when u start reving at 9gs its hard on the stock rings..... and im sure ppl will have some thing to say about u can't rev a stock motor that high....... its been done many times for years......... but one thing tho......... change ur valve spring retainers if u going to the stock one's are okay... but the may brake........ as the did on my gsr motor.... but my b16a motor never did, that motor was being reved a lot highr......... don't run a gsr ecu just chip ur b16 ecu like it was said the gsr will set off a littal yellow buddy light....
If i remember right the ITR springs after 97 or 98.... where the mugen ones....... soo not really the same as the b16a ones just a littal bit stiffer not by much

man, 9000 on stock valve springs and retainers is beggin for valve float. Not to mention completely pointless with stock cams. Its dyno proven that b16/gsr cams stop making power at 7600. Unless you are running a higher lift/longer duration cam, in which case you should be using aftermarket dual valve springs and retainers, i wouldn't rev that high. And to use bigger cams, generally more compression is needed to cram the air into the cylinders while the valve opens higher and stays open for longer (lift/duration).
Using stage 2/3/4 cams (anything that would make power to 9000) on the stock valve train is just plain dumb IMO and to be efficient at 9k the head will need some work and you will need all of the bolt ons.
Sure you can take a stock b16/gsr to 9000rpms, i know a few people that did it, but its just a ticking time bomb. My one friend has been through 4 b-series engines now b/c he likes to rev them to 9000.
And zyepher, damn, did u wake up on the wrong side of the bed or something?!?!?!

LOL

Thanks guys, this info is great!

Anyways just another question:

If i plug in a 2000 civic type R (b16b) ecu, to my 2000 civic SiR (b16a2)....what kind of gains will i get...i know it should rev to 8500....
just curious....

I'm still learning...thanks guys for teaching
