B16a2 into 5th gen.

Ok.
This is another one of my many (I'm sure you find annoying) posts about how a b16 will swap into a Civic.

Ok.

I've come down to this, I want to put in a b16a2 into a Civic b/c it seems to be the easiest swap.

The question is WHAT IS EVERYTHING I WILL NEED?
I don't want to get halfway into this swap and find out I need something else.

So far this is what I KNOW I need...
-Engine, Tranny, ECU, Wiring Harness

and now I just heard that I need new axles too?
Is this ture?

so if I do need axles add it to the list above and anything else I need please let me know...

Thanks. I really appreciate all the help you guys have given me so far (and for putting up with my questions I'm sure you find stupid), your forum is one of the best Ive been on.

B16a2 or 2nd Gen B16a ... these two things are not the same.

I'd suggest the later.

ecu
shift linkage
motor/tranny mounts (you will need 5 mounts)
axles

possibly an OBDI to OBDII converter...depending on how you want to wire it up

The 2nd gen is technically b16a1, while the 1st gen is just the b16.

A vancouver civic club link?

What about everyone else on the net? like the TCC....so are you stating ryuujin is incorrect in his list?

Come start an internal fight!

my apologies but i was asking for a link which was not provided in your original post....but back to the discussion....a vancity 604 club link????? i would suggest it doesn't hold that much water....
hell in some people's eyes niether does the TCC reference chart.
I will see about speaking to my friend at Honda in getting a more definite answer on the topic

i have a few more links that discuss the 2nd gen and it seems to follow the path i have read time and time again

Identifying 1st and 2nd generation B16A

A beginners guide to telling which B16 is which

Please tell me there is more than that one link that shows the description you are stating

so this guy Adrian Teo is telling us that the B16a (JDM) has a first and second generation

then he talks about the USDM B16A2

so my guess after reading that is that there is a B16a2 AND a second generation b16a and they are NOT the same

thanks dave... you just proved my point

What this page tries to achieve is to clarify some of the doubts when it comes to which B16A is which and hopefully stop retailers passing off first generation B16A's as later generation (92 and up) B16A's.
by reading this i can determine that there are 2 generations of the JDM b16a

There is NO suffix (e,g, B16A2 or B16A3) like the US, Asian or European counterparts.
by reading this i now know that there is a usdm b16a2

usdm and JDM are different... therefore i can safely state that there is a b16a2 and a second gen b16a and they are different

Maybe I am missing the text in the page in my old age...but what line does he mention the USDM B16a2 engine is different from the JDM 2nd gen.
What he said was from what I read is the JDM doesn't stamp the engines for easier reference like in the US? I don't see where he states they are different.....I believe that is called assuming and assuming makes an *** out u and me....

By your theory then there is a difference between the Coupe Si in Canada and the Coupe EX in the US.

Even though everything inside is exactly the same........

ask aaron what the difference between USDM and JDM is

wait...here it is

*Depends on USDM or JDM, for the USDM motors are rated at 160hp, while the JDM motors are rated at 170hp
