air compressor and tools

first of all to mods I hope this is the appropriate forum, I was sure which it would fit to best but came up with this one.

Anyways though...I have been considering investing into a small compressor for when I work on my car at home to make things alot easier for me and save myself alot of time.

Canadian tire has one on sale this week I have been looking into and it also comes bundled with some tools which sounds good to me.

Im just wondering if this would be sufficient enough to do most things on a car or if this is a cheap peice of sh it which wouldnt help me out very much?

Heres the link for details on it

it's not exactly the best section to post this, but I'll leave it here... most ppl who work on cars who could help you will see it here.

1st of all, I've done everything and anything on a variety of cars, and I don't have an air compressor. too many times where a power or air tool would come in handy, there just isn't enough room. however, if you feel you still wanna spend the money on an air compressor, I say GO FOR IT!!! it will come in handy more often than not... that being said, this compressor will be just fine for most light duty automotive work. you won't be able to paint cars or anything, it doesn't have enough CFM for that, but it'll do the trick for a lotta stuff. and yeah, the price seems really great!

that being said, I hope you have a very extensive set of tools... good hand tools will come in handy more times than an air compressor. but then rusted bolts come off easier with air than with hand tools... hand tools tend to break rusted bolts off.

alright thanks alot....and yea i have a bunch of hand tools already and have usually been able to get the job done with them...Its just that almost everytime i work on something i end up breaking a bolt which is a huge pain. So that was sort of my main reasoning

ok that's a good enough reason to buy it, yeah. just remember, the torque produced will depend more on the impact wrench than the compressor... so if you find you're not getting the job done with the one the comes in the kit, then get a better impact wrench.

what are you using the compressor for? i would suggest somthing bigger. these small ones are usally constantly running and become annoying after a few times using it..

if you only work on cars once a month or something... it won't matter that the compressor is always running.

I got one of those, the compressor at $150 is a good deal, comes with a regulator, air filter, and oil. It does the job, helped me take apart my suspension and brakes when I struggled with hand tools.

The impact driver that comes with the kit is not the greatest, I'd recommend budgeting another $100 for one of those 625lbs impact drivers off ebay.

I have that compressor and tool set and I highly recommend it. For the price, its fantastic. The compressor doesn't turn on much when using the impact gun, which is what you will be using mostly, unless you're like holding the trigger trying to loosen the bolt. It is not good for painting or a die grinder, which drain the tank quickly.

Also it says 125 psi but it shuts down at 110 or so. If u open up the plastic cover you will find a plastic flat head screw. That adjusts the pressure the pump shuts off at. You'll want to go ahead and adjust that so you get 125 psi like you paid for. You will find the impact gun works much better afterwards.
