Question AEM cold air intake

I have a 2000 civic si. I bought a AEM cai to install for the spring. It is all one piece. Where is the best place to cut it to install a bypass valve? Thanx

well considering you might have thoughts of cutting it for SRI during the wet and winter months, i'd take that into consideration..
probably half way between where the filter would sit when SRI and the throttle body is..if feasible that is..

shouldn't..
it's bypassing all the time until you get a vapor lock (full water block in the pipe) at which point it'll suck air thru the foam..
but the higher up it is the better so it doesn't get wet..

So 7 or 8 inches in front of the throtle body should be fine!
I cant wait to see and hear the difference it will make on my car. After hearing all the hype about AEM's cai I will finally get to experiance it. I curently have a Ractive short ram intake. It is ok for the $ that I paid for it. It is definatly better than the stock maze intake. What was Honda thinking when they designed such a chunky, restrictive intake. Thanx for your help.

it should be okay there..
check their site tho, it might have some little bits on it about "hey, it's even better if.."

Honda's just doing what they're told to..environmental limitations, that kinda thing..

she'll sound good tho!!
lemme know tho if ya start feeling any lag on initial throttle..i know i did when i went OBX cai..

the bypass valve itself will affect horsepower....but only slightly. it could possibly affect the sound as well.

cut it in the same place that a short ram intake would have the filter.

just think of converting it to a short ram, cut it there, but a bypass valve and say bling bling!
