4WD Civic Starting project

can anyone tell me if you can buy something different for a crx drivetrain that will transfet 50/50 f/b instead of 90/10 f/b and anyone with some stupid advice of don't do it can post somewhere else !!!!!!

want ot put a crv 4WD drivetrain into an EG HB and advince or idea's

DON"T TELL ME NOT TO DO IT OR YOU CANT CUZ THAT WOULD MAKE YOU MORE FOOL THAN ME

dingus8 22-Feb-2004 01:02 PM

ahhh do you relise how much effort it is to convert to awd...even on the fwd tsi talons' it's a complete bitch and they are a awd platform........not worth it...

punkindrublic 22-Feb-2004 01:33 PM

you would want a different transfer case.... you might be able to adjust the stock one though?? i dont know...

what you have to remember though is that the crv drivetrain isn't meant for speed or performance....

its not a stupid idea... its just a hard idea to excecute....

punkindrublic 22-Feb-2004 01:50 PM

Sleekef 22-Feb-2004 01:57 PM

i have the issue of Honda Tuning where they made a Integra (GS-R i think?) into 4wd using the CRV drivetrain..... if i get muh scanner up and running properly i will post pics of the pages

Whiplash 22-Feb-2004 05:08 PM

probably be a lot easier just doing a body swap and a major suspension dump on the crv frame/suspension....no??

interesting idea tho..

dingus8 22-Feb-2004 08:15 PM

buy a AWD talon...a awd launch on a torqueless b16 woudl be ****..lol

imported_zc_hatch 22-Feb-2004 09:53 PM

Biggy 22-Feb-2004 10:36 PM

imported_gatherer 22-Feb-2004 10:38 PM

I wish you the best of luck in this ... it can be done ... but it will cost alot .... as for advice no one here has done this (to my knowledge) and therefore can't give much ...:p

white92d15b7 23-Feb-2004 06:19 AM

i have searched the internet high and low and haven't found much useful info!!!! i have a welder , a smashed crv(b20 and drive train ) and an eg hatch and i will make it all work out one way or another !!!!!

bbarbulo 23-Feb-2004 08:44 AM

damn you :D I've been itching to do almost the same thing, but in a EF sedan with full B20 running gear and a turbo on it. SICK!!! It's a sweet idea. Basically what I wanted to do was line everything up, cut out whatever on the floorpan was in the way, and build a full tube frame inside with all the CRV mounting points on the tube frame, so basically off the CRV everything bolted right up to the tube frame just like it would on a CRV. Only thing I'd need would be custom axles and prolly to shorten the driveshaft going to the rear... and also I'd wanna put a complete front knuckle in the rear so I have a hub for the axle to go into cuz the rear won't accept an axle. You could use the CRV susp and knuckles, but then your car will be as tall as a CRV. Honda Tuning did an AWD CRV/Integra a while back. Check out their site. Your other option would be a twin engine car. Some guy in MI is doing a H22A turbo RWD rear engine del Sol. Full tube frame capable of accepting another H22A turbo in the front compartment. :)

white92d15b7 23-Feb-2004 05:36 PM

i am pretty much going ot do what you say get everything lined up and proper i was going to vut out the whole rear of the car and weld a whole crx rear in there with wheel wells and all i can drop or raise the car to whatever i think is cool cuz im making all new rear wheel mounts !!!

spracingsports 23-Feb-2004 05:40 PM

ya know, in honda tuning, what they did to the 'teg sounded mainly like fabrication (cutting/welding), so if you do that yourself, and already have the crv drivetrain and stuff, it probably wont cost too much money, you just need someone knowledgable with trannies, shift linkage, and driveshafts....

white92d15b7 23-Feb-2004 05:59 PM

i will do it all myself the only problem im seeing as a big hassle right now is routing the exaust cuz the drive shaft needs to be in center of the car !!!!! well so does the mid pipe !!!???????!!!!!!!??????
