1999 SI with an 2000 Sir Computer.

Its works fine I just want to know if it's a good idea? And will I cause any damage to anything. I like the extra rev's and power but I don't want brake my car. This is something I'm just tring right now.

So again i've got my sohc vtec car with a dohc vtec computer all obd2. plugs right in.

well #1 your car is SOHC not DOHC and #2 I don't think the fuel mapping will be too friendly with your car

Extra revs!! hmmm? ur SOHC will only put out MAX HP @ 6,400-800RPM? so whats the point of reving higher than that??? I dunno what else to say..... Rev limiters are there for a reason!
What is an SIR rev limit? 8,400RPM??
In my opinion i think its wearing out the motor!

man with this computer vtec is loud as hell! man I just wanted to have a little bit of fun, while learning at the same time. Heck maybe I just want to blow the motor, so I have a reason to buy a dohc,,ha ha .. I know that obd1 computer swaps would give me a big gain. What's big deal any way I thought my civic had good compression. Heck I people turbo there d16's what harm can the b16 ecu really cause. I just got the ecu at a great deal off ebay from the USA, and I like the idea off having an extra computer lying around just incase, even if it's a b16 computer.
But no one answered me in terms of what I could bust in my motor.?

your fuel maps will be so messed up that you'll probably be putting along side a golf cart. Big waste of money and time.

Umm, I think almost everyone answered what you could bust. They all said extra revs would shorter the lifespan of your motor with no benefits because your max hp. is at 6,400-800rpm, and an sir redlines at 8,400rpm, something like that. Now an ECU provides fuel maps for your motor. Now an Sir motor has a big difference from yours, an extra cam. So it's ECU provides fuel maps which are approriate for a DOHC, and your computer provides maps for a SOHC. Those aftermarket ECU's you see have maps flashed for the different mods you have done, i.e. exhasut, intake, headers, camshafts, cam gears, and watever else. If you have a ECU with fuel maps not meant for you car, your fueling will be crap, you'll boggin, and your engine may even choke from too much fuel, or excess fuel not being burnt, and having to spit it out the exhaust. I forgot if that's called a lean a/f or a rich a/f, I always mix those up, but watever. Basically not a good idea, wat you should do is sell that ECU, make some money back, or even a profit if you got a good deal, and then do up your engine a lil bit, if you haven't already done so, but if you have everything done, like i/e/h and cams, then use the money towards a skunk2 chip, or spoon, something that is meant for a usdm motor, don't go a with a jdm one, cuz there engines are designed to for the wicked high octane fuel they get over there, and are motors are not. Hopefully that answers your questions, and this is to everyone else on the board, if I stated anything incorrectly pls state in the post so I can know also,
