B16a2 only like 91+
They run like *** on any below 91 octane. There's part of your problem. Now the other missing 25L in your tank in another story.

45L is the max on the 99/00 SiR
I get about 400km to 435km to a full tank of 91 octane, n i find if i have 94 octane i get a lil more mileage.

o man you've been running 87 octane? !!!!
Have you heard your engine pinging or making any kinds of weird noises??
When I first did my engine swap 4 yrs ago it was a b16a 2nd gen, I made the mistake and put 87 octane in it ONCE........at that time my cousin was working for Paul at Splitfire, I just happend to pick him up from work that day.........Needless to say I got a 1/2 hour lecture from him about damage I could have done to the engine, and not to mention the embarasment he felt as Paul probably heard my engine pinging when I pulled up to the shop to pick him up lol!
Lesson learned non the less.
91 Octane is minimum you should be putting in your tank. I've even seen b16 engines ping from 89 octane even with the timing retarded.
I think you should take your car and get it checked out IMO. Dont know if anything is damaged in the engine.
How long have you been running 87 octane?

does your car have white face gauges or any gauge cluster modification by any chance?
run the tank dry, fill it with 91 octane gas (45 liters) and reset your odometer. should get 400+ kms when your gas light turns on. repair accordingly.

take an approved 5L portable gas container...fill it up to the top and see how long you can go driving after the gas light comes on..notice the distance travelled. if its more than 5-10 kilometers after the light was on....your needle is screwed up for sure.
this test can be tricky or perhaps unsafe but it will work...do it at night when there is less traffic...DONT GO ON THE HIGHWAY AT ANY COST.....just drive slow close to your home and see what happens. also..you can notice your entire running out of that one trank full if you calcualte from the start.
if u run out of gas...then just fill up from the container and head back.

I'm pulling 400-450km/tank, winter mileage...
My record was 700km to a tank (I have the picture to prove it ) heading home from my honeymoon in october.
And dude...don't go redlining all day with nothing but 87 in your tank....it's not good!!!
Run it dry, put a full tank of 91 in and hit the trip meter. Then run it dry again. Not till your low fuel light comes on....cause if your fuel gauge is busted, so is your low fuel light. If your gauge reads wrong and reads empty, you low fuel light will come on, eventhough the tank might not be empty.
