Windows down on track...?? Eh?

Ok dudes.. I'm curious.. at the race track.. in movies.. and in some places.. why do people race with their windows DOWN?

Doesn't that ruin aerodynamics?

Do you mean drag racing or at a circut? I think you not allowed to run at a drag strip with the windows down(at least the last time I went) But at an autocross or a lapping day it is up to you weather you want them down or not. I normally have them down just because I don't feel restricted and I can also hear alot more with them down(I wear a helmit when ever I race except at a drag strip) so I can't hear alot.

That's what I don't get.. why would you keep your windows open during races? It slows you down...

True... but usually within the 2 seconds that you realize you'll put your car into the wall and you actually are in the wall... you don't have enough time to take your belt off... and crawl out thru the window. I can see if the car's already stopped and you're getting out before it explodes... but to crawl out when it's travelling 120 km/h is suicide... whether you crawl out or go head on into a wall.. hell.. you could probably open the door faster and jump out than crawl out thru the window. lol

cayuga will not allow you to drag until your windows and sunroof are fully closed. I remember I left the sunroof open last year by accident and he made me close it before I wen't. It's a new rule at cauyga b/c 2 years ago I left my window open a couple times and I still wen't. I even have it on tape too

joker yes they can,
the day me and My Blue Si went to cayuga, some guy was driving an Accord V6 and he had a baby seat in the back, and why wouldn't you be able to?
the people that own the track couldn't care less, they are still making money regardless, but yeah, auto's should be okay, sicne the accord v6 was competing...
