Taking many factors into consideration including weight, numbers and platforms. I would have to say,

Your sunflower will get beat by bus lengths.

Prelude should run low 15's quarter mile, depending on driver, tires and track conditions.

Ah, look who should be careful of what they say now? Just because I have a DX doesn't mean I have a stock engine in it.

Either way, his comment was still funny.

Get it dyno tuned, I am sure you can yield good number and time. A fast car is a fast car, I can respect that.

jesus christ the oldest sunflower vs civic comment in the books, maybe you should know what numbers are, because you came here asking us how badly you will get beat...your 212hp and whopping 231 tq numbers still only got you a 14.2, that my friend, sucks...stop lying to us. pm steveZ, he is your friend

edit: Street racing is also bad so dont do it. And if it makes you feel better..if you're actually running 14.2 you will win

Anybody who owns a Prelude knows that it is not a good base for a drag vehicle, its a really heavy car. If I wanted to go fast in a straight line I'd buy a V8.

Your buddy should do a complete comparison with you. 1/4 mile time (you probably win). Top speed test, lude should win hands down. Your Sunfire is governed at the factory at 170 km/h (you may be able to reprogram that), but his Prelude will do 230 km/h no problem. Then the road course...goes to the Prelude again. There is nothing you can do to that Sunfire to make it comparable here. Prelude suspension and handling make it a sheer joy to drive.

I guess it all depends on what it is you are looking for in a car, I spent the $$$ for the creature comforts offered in the lude, and its handling capabilities.

Also in your comparison you are comparing apples to oranges.

Sunfire GT stock, should run high 16's at best. The stock Prelude would beat you there too.

Now resale value...Value for your 99 today, up to $7,000. Value for his Prelude 2 years older $11,000.

Again all about preference...BTW Welcome to TCC, and no more street racing videos please. We are very anti-streetracing here

last time I checked my d16y8 has 107 ft/lb of tq.. and it is recommended to torque your lugs to 90-100 ft/lbs.. I have you beat by 7-17 foot pounds bud

why are you comparing top speeds? the majority of racing done when comparing two cars is drag. not 1mile, not 4 miles, but 1/4 mile. a sunfire can be made to read speeds over 170km/h, but why? can i ask where the fact that ur car can go up to 230 has come in handy? since that pretty much doubles legal limits, i see no need or point. even in a 1/4 mile, u wont pass 170 either. as far as suspension, ur compaing stock suspensions, but many car enthusiasts mod their suspension anyways, so at the end, they can both be good. and stock 2.4L runs mid 15's, not high 16s, and that isnt far from the preludes 15.3. as far as resale value, hondas do have the upper hand, but then again, even tho you see someone with an 88 crx with 250000km on it asking 10grand for it, doesnt make it worth that much.
