vtec not kicking?

hey so pretty much sometime it doesnt sound or feel like my vtec doesnt kick in..

any one know dome possible reason this will be it only happens sometimes. sayyy 1/3 times

probably your vtec spool valve (ie vtec solenoid) unplug it and put constant 12V to it and if it clicks it's ok....very hard to diagnose because it sounds like it's intermittent....keep an eye on it

Check you engine oil, because if it's low, it will not kick it in.

or if the engine is still cold

jamie1985 14-Aug-2009 03:18 PM

^Yea if the engine is not up to temp vtec will not engage.....When you say vtec isn't working does the check engine light come on?

If it's obd0 the engine doesn't need to be warm check your oil make shure you have good connections to the vtec pressure switch oil pressure sensor knock sensor and clean up the ground

it most deffinatly could be low on vtec oil. also check your headlight fluid, you may need some Xenon fluid to help the "vtach" performance.

jamie1985 02-Sep-2009 02:55 PM

...also could be not enough vtakkk stickers

D.T.P 02-Sep-2009 02:57 PM

oh yes, how could we forget about those? also you should check under the hood if your valve cover says vtec. otherwise you need motor swap. srr

Yong_STballaEM2 02-Sep-2009 02:57 PM
