Time for a rebuild?
Alright, so...
i recently hit 300,000 kms on my stock D16z6, and even though i can still rip the engine without any signs of weakness or anything, i'm wondering if i should consider rebuilding it before i do any further upgrades.
i have no aftermarket parts on the car yet, however im taking the N/A route and will be slowly upgrading full exhaust, intake manifold, etc... (as money permits)
so i guess my question is: is it worth upgrading a high KM engine like mine? or instead of wasting my time on something that may **** on me later, should i just consider rebuilding it?

What kinda #s do you hope to pull?
If you're just doing intake/exhaust and other bolt ons, that won't matter if your engine is losing compression or anything. just doesn't factor into it.
Engine health/rebuild will only factor in if you want to stress the engine more by doing:
- cams
- valve train
- pistons
- forced induction
if you're just slapping on bolt ons, don't worry about a rebuild yet. just have $$$ set aside incase engine fails.

i was more concerned about the engine after all the bolt ons are put on, with regards to upgrading pistons/cams etc...
i'll run a compression test on it and see if it burns any oil or coolant or anything, as far as i can smell/see it doesnt but i have yet to examine the engine more..

yeah...like if you're just doing breather mods for now, you're good. I/H/E don't stress the engine more. Just makes better use of it as is.
just worry about rebuild once you tear it apart to work on the internals. might as well rebuild it if everything's out and you're putting in pistons and such.

cool man thanks for the help!
i wont be worrying about it too much, for now the lineup is:
apexi ws2 catback, megan testpipe + greddy headers + skunk intake manifold /w shortram intake.
maybe i'll post pics as the build gets more exciting

Dont be affraid of a swap.. Its alot of work and $ to rebuild a engine. and it will take alot of $ to make your d16 even close to a stock bseries.. If you dont have to rebuild then of course stay away from a swap but if rebuild is needed swap is your best option.. Keep running your d16 while building up a solid bseries.
