Thumbs down Overheat

Ive been having a problem with my 94 Civic.
Its a 1.5 L
Its been overheating, past the red mark or so says the gauge, however no visible signs of an overheat (ie. Smoke, etc). However, when i put the heat on, the needle variates from almost full heat to mid.
Coolant was low when i checked it, filled it up, still overheats though. Where could the coolant have gone? Head gasket maybe?
After replacing the valve cover gaskets just this summer, cylinder # 2 is backed up with oil to the ignition coil, so perhaps its misfiring?
Anyone have any ideas as to what the problem could be?

No offense, but your an idiot.

Why you driving around with the needle that high? The car doesnt have to be smoking to be overheating.

I think the oil backed up to your 'coil' (lol btw its not a coil) has nothing to do with anything.

You overheated becase you were low on coolant. Now you probably fried your gasket, cracked a sleeve, who knows. Do a leakdown test.

Or better yet, bring it to a mechanic

LOL that was harsh! ya if your needles going up i dont think you should drive it at all. Like he said do a leakdown test and post results if it keeps sucking in coolant than its probly head gasket or u ****ed up something royally dont worry engines r CHEAP!

you put the heat on and the problem goes away means a head gasket or major leak

Dont listen to this guy. If the temp. goes down it just means your cooling system is not being efficient enough, weither its a bad thermostat, bad rad, low on coolant, bad water pump, etc. Could be anything. It doesnt mean you have a bad headgasket lol

I had the same problem with my SOHC ZC about 4 years ago. It was just a themostat. I believe it's just two 10 mm bolts for the housing.
