is it ok for hitting vtec at 4800 on a stock b16?

what people dont understand is vtec isnt some magical power maker. Im not saying this is the current case, but, with my friend in mind, he says to wire it up so vtec is always engaged... The whole point of vtec is being able to have 2 cam profiles on one cam. One for low-mid rpm range, the other for high rpm. If you start the high rpm profile early, your not getting any benifit of it, infact, your probably LOSING power because the low-mid rpm profile is better at that RPM than the high RPM profile. Now, if you get different cams of which the high RPM profile is better at, in this case, 4800 rpm to whatever RPM, then yes, you would want to set vtec to kick in at that point, but if you dont have a cam specifically made for that, your going to lose power and go SLOWER.
