First of all, its cold outside...WHY would you go from a 5w30 to a 10w40????

Get rid of that ****...its a stock D16y7, it doesnt need a 40weight oil, especially not in the cold winter...if anything you're gonna cause more damage on those cold starts.

Also get rid of the lucas...at high rpms that **** foams up and foam has air pockets and air pockets are BAD for oil pumps...and bearings...and bad for lubrication over all...

Stick in some Quaker State or Castrol GTX or my personal favourite, Valvoline 5w30 CONVENTIONAL and call it a day.

I'm merely speaking from my past experience. Years ago I had a vehicle with a lot of valve train noise, even after a fresh oil change with conventional oil. The moment I put in full synthetic, the noise pretty much disappeared all together and the engine ran noticeably smoother. I do not have a bias opinion. At the time, I was simply trying it to see if it would work better. It did. I've used full synthetic and all my vehicles since with nothing but positive results.

If your engine is burning oil excessively, then yes, using synthetic is a waste of money, because you're only going to burn it quicker...lol. However, if it's not, you can use synthetic and it will flow better on cold starts at any temperature.

I suggest you actually take it to zeeman's shop for a proper diagnosis, because it sounds like you've tried several types of oil with additives without much luck. It could a be a simple fix or something more serious.

I'm right and I haven't even posted in this thread yet?!?!?! lol

Yes, the noise does go away once the engine is warmed up. Is there any way to fix piston slap?

Overhaul i guess lol. I wouldnt worry about it too much just take it easy until it warms up. I dont know why everybody is getting all worked up lol, we have 4 6th gen civics with high mileage and they ALL have piston slap so its common.
