Dont put the D15b in the 97 si unless you get the OBD1 D15b motor and obd2a to obd1 harness. The reason why is cause the D15b you might be getting is a OBD2 which has 2 vtec solenoids and its a 3 stage vtec. Also if its for a manual transmission, finding the correct ecu for it is really hard.

Thanks for the suggestions guys...i was told that a d15 is kind of a down grade from a d16 but the hp and torque isnt that far off is it really a noticable difference? also i was thinking of getting a non v-tec block and put my d16 head on it so that it still has the v-tec what do you guys think of that idea??

d15b vtec is 130 hp vs d16z6 125. and yes it's from the cam and do to the difference in the gas in Japan. they don't offer the lower octane that we do so the JDM d15b has flat top pistons instead of the z6 dished, lowering the displacment while upping the compression, that with the cam that some consider to be somewhere between a st1 and st2 cam for d16's is where the 5hp come from.
you could get a block but where do you get just a block? ususally if it's a dissasembled motor it's because something is really wrong with it. plus then you need to gend your head out to get resurfaced and you need a new head gasket, you should also replace and not re-use head studs, you can and I'm sure lots of people have but you are supposed to change them for proper torque specs. along with the timing belt and water pump that you should do regardless of if you just changing the block or whole motor. while the block and tranny are seperated it's worth it to change your clutch release bearing also, but back to the point is for the cost of changing the block to one you really won't know will work or not, and good luck getting a warranty on just a block since you prolly can only buy one used from someone and not a parts/engine supplier or scrap yard, your likely better off getting a motor from a jdm parts dealer or a scrap yard with warranty and changing the belt and pump and release bearing, then installing it, flushing in it, and have a motor that you know is good, if it's no good it's gonna show right away or at least in the first 3 months, used block you bought from some guy = screwed, used engine with warranty = another motor, still sucks to deal with but better then say, having the used block go and parts getting sucked up through the head into the manifold and back into the head in other pistons. sounds far fetched but I've seen where the #1 piston blew a hole along the out side edge of it, scatching the cylinder wall, and the parts of the piston turned to little pieces of metal and imbedded them selfs all over the combustion chamber in both the 1st and 2nd chambers.
I offered you to do the swap with the belt, pump and bearing, complete motor (you prolly need you old intake/exhaust manifold with means the intake gasket should be changed as well) and engine flush, installed for ~$1200 when you first posted and would have easilly had it done by your deadline of this thurs (tomorrow) but got no response. considering the motor with 90 day warranty is ~$500 plus honda belt and pump, I don't use garbage aftermarket parts for something as important and potentially detrimental to the engine as the timing belt, along with the rest of the offered service, at my shop where I do have to give a cut of every job to my shop... anyone who works flat rate knows how much of the $60-$100 per hour labour rate the shop charges how much actually makes it to the tech's pocket. I don't think is really all that unreasonable of a price. Is it?
I know you can get it done cheaper but I'm offering professional service with warranty incase the motor is no good so you don't get screwed. is some random in his mom's garage gonna offer you that?

thanks for your response ol Dusty! i respect what you said and i totally agree its worth the cost i'm just exploring what options i have. and just to make something clear i posted this thread sometime ago but because i needed a car by this weekend i used some of my cash to rent a car so now i'm back to saving up for it again atleast this time i'm not starting from scratch... however i know i can get my swap done for $1000 at eaglejapanmotors so i'm trying to find someone that can do it for around that price because i still have to pay to tow my car to the shop i choose to do it with. BUT if you can offer me the complete swap with towing and everything for that price i WILL do my swap with you. just putting that out there... anyways thanks for your reply and let me know

if you mean the price I offered with tow I can talk to my boss about it tomorrow, we can prolly do that depending on your location, my shops in rexdale on martin grove. we deal with a lot of tow trucks as my boss buys a lot of cars at the auction and either fixes them or send them back home
