how do i make obd1 b16a in ek pass etest
#3
Get a proper tune for e-test, also bring all your receipts and records of the engine swap, if you get a half decent guy running the test he will put it through as a hot rod. Make sure to bring all documentation stating that the B16 was not offered in your model of EK

Hot Rod will pass.
Also tuning for an etest will make it pass.

If the engine is wired properly, is running the right software and has a decent cat, it will pass no problem.
Hell I saw a jetta with vr6 (2.8L 6cyl) pass as a sohc 2.0L haha.
As long as everything is working properly, you will have no problems.

^He's being serious.
I have seen people fully retarding their ignition timing before an etest.
If it gets the car to pass and that's ALL you want, then go for it. But if it were my car, I would get it car tuned properly. You will not only enjoy a passed etest, but also enjoy a smoother powerband, increased engine longevity, and in most cases, better fuel economy.
When you do things properly, it isn't necessarily cheap, but the gains really last a long time and you'll be met with a lot less problems, which can save you money in the long run.

The OP said he has b16 software, so unless you refer to dyno tuning, i dont see what you guys are talking about. Yes dyno tuning would help, any engine/car for that matter, but gains would be 1-3hp and quite a bit of cash.
It was a simple question but most people somehow still fail to reply. B16 swapped civic with b16 software will pass etest, if it doesnt, then you have other problems, not software related.

I've seen many and many and many b16 swapped cars fail etests for whatever reason. Usually running a basemap or stock ECU with all emission control devices working properly.
But at the same time, i've built cars that make 300+whp that pass etests without any problems. The key is having a properly functioning cat.
