i was just reading up on another forum.... and some are saying " get read to sell your car/new motor swap " because this is a sign before my engine starts knocking blah blah....
another one says it may be because of a fram filter... i am currently using a fram tough guard filter because i got a few for free....
i change my oil more frequently than i need to so it cant be an issue with changing oil/filter....
any feedback on this?

i think so... i checked the dipstick and hardly an oil was on it... then i dropped the quart in... started the car... and then checked the dipstick and it was fine... then 10 mins after turning the car off i checked the dipstick again and it didn't have much oil on it.... and i know for sure i am not leaking any oil anywhere wtf this is weird!!!

When oil is hot, it expands. Heat does that to everything.
My old car was burning oil, and since I didn't really care about the engine I would top it up when oil light would go on when cornering hard. Should check oil when car is cold. But yes as Chris said you stated the problem yourself. Its the lack of oil in the pan that caused the light to go on.

Oil burning is in most cases a cause of worn piston rings. I'm assuming you wouldn't be able to do this yourself so it would be cheaper to kit get another z6.
For oil brands, there is no point in using a synthetic oil if you are burning it. 10w40 as Chris mentioned will help slow down the oil consumption. For a brand, it really doesn't matter... You will burn it up
