Engine Temperature reads hotter than normal
Hey Guys,
quick question, I recently (2 days ago) installed a shortram intake into my 2000 civic. Since doing so Ive noticed that my temperature gauge reads hotter than normal while idling.
ie. - today i went to mcdonalds, sat in the drive through, while sitting there I noticed that the gauge needle was rising, sat at about 3/4 to the top. as i got out of the line and hit the streets again, all was fine.
Ive heard of people wrapping their intakes with insulation (like air conditioning stuff) would that help me out.
Thanks in advance,
Darryl

Thanks guys... common sense told me the intake had nothing to do with it but it seems so subsequent that I had just change it and this problem began.
Anyways, I decided to take a look under the hood and think I found a simple fix... no I'm not leaking anything, but I was COMPLETELY out of oil... wiped the dip stick, stuck it back in and didnt see so much as a drop of oil on it, took it to Crappy Tire for the change... waiting on it so far and I'll see how the gauge reads then
I dont think a rad flush is necessary as about 2 months ago, my rad completely went on me and so I bought and new one and replaced it. topped it off with water and coolant obviously.
I think problem persists after Ive picked up the car I will definitely be looking into the thermostat.
Thanks

also check to see if your rad fan is working.
If your car over heats while sitting still and goes back to normal once moving again that could be a sign that the rad fan isn't turning on.

Rad fan is running very well... While letting the car run and having the hood open I clearly see it kick in. Got the oil change done and still have a fluctuation.... to tell you the truth I was fiddling around with my gauges not too long ago and think I may have done something to effect the temp gauge cause well... lets put it this way I realized that when flicking on my high beams on, the temp gauge will FLYYYYYYYYYY up completely to the red, so Im thinking its simply time for a new gauge.
any thoughts??
