No you can not put a B series (dohc) head on a D series (sohc) engine block.

what your explaining is a mini me swap, on a sohc engine theres no way to swap out of the d family, you could get a d15 head i think....

A mini me swap is putting a VTEC SOHC head on a non VTEC SOHC Block. Just swap in a B-Series.

A B16 will probably be the cheapest to do. There are tonnes of them availiable and if you swapping from a SOHC non VTEC to a B16, you will definately notice the difference in power.

call around... look at our affiliates
check tiger

look at the classifieds, there around, but if you don't know what to look for, take some with you or buy from a rep. shop.

There are a lot of ****ed up motors out there as well

happy hunting

Not entirely true! you can technically stay in the D series family with the DOHC look at the dohc ZC. None of you thought of that one huh!

dont waste your time and money those motors are to old now and usually worn out! You also dont wanna throw in a 1990 motor into a 2000 car lol. Get the d16y8 motor throw that in and enjoy your gas mileage lol

makes more sense to step up to a vtec sohc head than to step down to a non-vtec dohc... well, to me anyway. personally, i decided to build a quick sohc then turbo if i get bored of it since it's a fair bit cheaper than a b series swap.

the b series seems to me mostly for people who either a) arent interested in doing much other work or b) want to see 500hp boosting it from stock. i guess if you eventually wanna see a lot of hp from the engine then it's worth the investment a B but i'd rather have a zippy D and still have cash left over to perfect the rest of my car.

anyway that's just my 2c, but the point is to go with what fits your application. even if you have the skrilla aint no point in spending more than you'll use

Do yourself a favor and research more, you'll get a much better understanding and less headaches all around.

I'd stick with the Y8 if it's just a DD and you don't see yourself wanting to spend $ on your car.

Personally, I'd opted for the B20 but that's personal preference.

I suggest the baby of the B series. The B16 will give you lots of fun, sounds fantastic with a cai and you'll get great fuel mileage. I've done 37mpg on my b16.
