d16y8 - plain vtec, correct?
am i correct in saying that 98 civic si with an oem engine, d16y8, has vtec.
it is not e vtec or vtec e or whatever.

the y8 does have vtec but it doesnt do much on that motor lol

Indeed the Y8 is a vtec model and like Sal has said, it doesn't do a whole lot for power but it's good on gas.

plain vtec
vtec-e is a feature found on the D16Y5 as installed in the HX models.
