the only mod to the motor everybody does is the headgasket spacer. since you need to drop compression otherwise its all good for low boost.

who uses these headgasket spacers?....no one I know.

You don't NEED to drop the compression on a turbo car, hell my b16 is 11.5:1 CR and i'm running 12psi off a GT3255E.

Stock d-series engines aren't even 10:1 CR so I wouldn't worry about lowering the compression....unless you're going to use forged pistons/rods.

knows his ****...

i ebay turbo'd my car, it was a t3/t4 and i was running about 8psi on it, i think i was close to the 200hp mark maybe. Anyways the tune was good everything on my motor was good, i was kissing the 300,000kms range on my block but it was the ebay **** that didn't hold up. D16's are strong for the most part with staying in the 200hp range for a safe daily driver. A good tune is key.

ya, you'll be fine, i'd concentrate on your fueling system and tuning. You'll want to use at least 440cc injectors and a walbro 255lph fuel pump.

Lol Ok, ill let you in on my secret. I have a z6 motor and putting a 14b on it. I just asked zeeman how would the tune be if I was to get the car tuned with open exhaust. Since I need to get a custom downtube, and I can't get that done without having my turbo on. So what he suggested was get turbo mounted and keep stock fueling, and drive to a shop to get the downpipe done, and not to hit boost while driving.
