Crank Pulley Holder
#6
Got mine at variety tools for 25$ I believe. Comes in handy when doing clutch (to hold the crank) or doing timing belt. Be prepared to struggle. Those things are torqued to insane ft/lbs. Also me being skinny, I don't have much weight to push on the breaker bar...so every time was quite the challenge.

I finally found a pulley holder like the one above, the canadian tire in stoney creek has it, going to grab it tonight and see if I can get it off with the impact gun -- I was going to try the crew driver but didnt want to take a chance it would break one of the teeth

^Impact gun should pull it off even without the tool. Came right off when I did mine.
Still a good tool to have, especially if working alone...
The screwdriver will bend/break before you damage a tooth on a flywheel... they're pretty damn tough. lol.

Service manual is your friend
Also, the reason the crank spun when you were using a socket/ratchet was you are creating a fulcrum point and you physically spin the shaft. Impact gun does just what the name says, yes the crank will/may move a little when using a gun, but the bolt WILL come out.
But since you got yourself a holder, be prepared to give er a lot of force to crack the bolt loose.
