B16a problem, Smoking
Im having a problem with my B16(1998 civic coupe) it sometimes runs good, other times it runs really rich, it will start to smoke extremly bad(white, smells like gas) and will some times cut out.
So far iv changed, fuel pump, fuel filter, and spark plugs.
I was told it was the pump so i changed it, seemed to work for the night, then the next day it was acting up, could it be the whole sending unit? i am also burning a TON of gas when it gets like this.
I have also been told it could be the PCV valve, i could not find where it was, so i took it to pennzoil, and neiher could they.
If someone could please help me, or give me advice that would be appreciated!
Thanks in advanced.

a blown headgasket is causing it to run rich?
interesting
first gen b16 in a 98 coupe...nothing like an engine thats 10 years older than the car lol.
how do you know for sure, that its running rich?
Don't say "b/c it smells rich out the tailpipe" lots of people say this, but in fact its just the sweet smell of premium gas being burnt up and in the form of exhaust gases coming out of the exhaust. Also, seeing black water come out of the tail pipe is NOT a sign of running rich, thats just the exhaust ridding itself of condensation (which is a by-product of combustion) that gets stuck in the exhaust and since the exhaust is caked in carbon of course the water that comes out is gunna be black.
