99 EL - Emmision Question PLZ HELP ASAP
I just bought a 99 el premium, d16y8. The motors got 217xxx on it. I'm gettin a check engine code saying that its bank 1 sensor. The previous owner told me don't change the sensor because the reason its giving the code is because they had to extend the wiring for the sensor since they put a DC Sports exhaust header. The engine mods are - AEM cold air intake, dc sports exhaust - magnaflow cat and its got NGK plugs in it. There's that make-a-gasket silicone sh*t connectin the header to the exhaust and a single layer gasket between the block and i think either or is leaking. I wanna take this car for emmisions but i don't know if it will pass or not.. Any suggestions? PLEASE help

1) dont be using 91 octane on that motor. You can do more harm than good. if you don't believe me, do some research.
2)if you had an exhaust leak its pretty noticeable, especially right at the flange.. you'll see black carbon buildup around the head where its leaking. If theres no carbon, USUALLY its not leaking around the flange.
3) extending wires WILL NOT throw a code if done properly. He did a ****ty job and either left it as an open circuit so your o2 isnt working at all or its a weak connection. i would solder and heatshrink all four o2 wires, then clear the code.
Chances are you will not pass a drive clean. Goodluck.

Okay well I'd like to thank everyone for the help, I used the obd2 scan tool and cleared the code. it didn't come back on after i took it for a hard run on the highway. I was told to RETARD the timing but for some odd reason i ended up advancing it ( stupid me ), I let it get warmed up and took it in for the test and SHE PASSED!!! i was soo happy. The only problem is my crank seal is leaking and i need to find a good shop with decent labor rates. I got all the parts
