Yeah, there illegal, but when you spend 250 bucks on personal plates, its good to protect them a little.

CT and Walmart only sell the crappy lightly tinted ones..

Went to PI today and found the dark tinted ones I'm happy now!

I heard any cover was illegal...a buddy of mine got a ticket for having a clear one! I've had mine on for a couple years now and have yet to be pulled over for it. Guess it all depends on the cop.

I got pulled over once downtown at night with smoked. My friggin plate has two digits on it!!! The cop asked me into the squad car to see my own plate cause he claimed he couldn't see it. He turned OFF his headlights and I swear I still saw 2 digits! I was like "hrmmm I see what you mean" with a :S. Why would he show me with the light off? Beats the hell out of me. I just wanted to get out of there. I'm sure he was really checking for alcohol consumption. But he didn't detect that either. {???**

Actually he pulled me over because my plate light was out. But I could still see my plate even with the dark smoke at night. Blind bastard.

Other car never got pulled over with dark smoke plate EVER. I made sure my light worked.

So yeah, totally up to the officer, but they have the right to use that as an excuse to pull you over.

Yup, you can get a ticket for any plate cover. Clear or smoked, it doesn't matter. I have a clear one too, and have had it for a while as well. Never got a ticket for it, but technically, I know I can get a ticket for it.

yea it is illegal but is it highly unlikely you ll get pull over for it...

For what i was told off the record if you are driving like a normal person you are not going to get pull over however if you are doing something stupid the plate cover will be the perfect excuse to pull you over......

I had it for 3 years and i never got pulled over , actually i did get pulled over once for beatin a yellow light but the cop said nothing about the cover.. I get cops driving behind me all the time and i never got pulled over..

it is illegal but 95% of cops wont pulled you over just because of the cover plate
