sidemarkers

ordered a set of sidemarkers w/ harness from honda. . neways they've arrived and are waiting to be installed.. so what i need some help with is..
should i do it myself!?
would a body shop be more wise to cut the metal!? if so where and how much would it be, roughly..
finally if i plan on doing it myself what could i use, i've searched and have seen alot of people using either a dremel or a nibbler?! where can i get the nibbler, so far not alot of people know what im talking about,, thanks

figure out exactly where you want them and tape over the paint at that spot..
again, figure out EXACTLY where you want them....

how big a hole do you need??

i'd drill a small pilot hole first, like 3/32 maybe..
don't use any real pressure on the drill, last thing you need is a dent or to have the drill slip on ya..
then I'D slowly work my way up to whatever size hole you need..
i say slowly because you try and jump too much too fast you run a greater risk of it catching

option would be to use the small sanding rolls and grind away until you're done

i used a dremel for mine... i had a template on paper.. cut out the sidemarker holes on the paper.. then taped the paper to the car the same on both sides.. make sure to measure and recheck a view times.. i did just to make sure it was even cause i had never done anything like that before.. then i markered over where i had cut it out, then i removed the paper and what was left was a black marked spot that i had to cut out.. so i dremeled it out.. then i test fited and shaved slowly where i needed to inorder for it to fit...

then i painted the cut section with rust proof and close enoght color match over to protect it from rusting and what not... then i just popped them in....

some poeple have different steps and different tools... i think someone once mensioned putting some sort of grease in the cut section so that it wont rust... sure if it works then by all means... just reasearch and find out which of the methods seems more comfertable for you...

hope that helps.

yea im going to do it tomorrow, but i dont want to buy a dremel for one day, id much rather use a nibbler now that i think of it, but i've only heard of getting it at radioshack, which has closed downin Canada now. Does anyone know of a retail store like home depot, circuit city or w.e that would for sure have this, i'd rather not waste my time by running from store to store, so far i've looked on the web and have got nothing but radio shack in the U. S carrying it.

one suggestion: make a template on a sheet of fridge magnet.

that way you can position it precisely on your car and it won't move. check this for reference:

or instead of scamming them, you can buy it and give/sell to someone else that can use it

well i found a good template and lined it up, checked a few times and began to cut..
I went with a dremel, and it was easier than i thought! After i cut out the fenders i cut off the plug from the sidemarker harness and extended the wires about 1' 6" on both sides and fed the lines thru with a coat hanger.
neways the fenders pretty dirty from shavings and finger prints but the cut out was a total success, its pretty cleann..
so here are two pics:

my only concern is or question for that matter is:
I have two wires, one green, one black whcih i believe to be the ground. On most DIY's theirs been 3 wires, the third usually being red. If i want the sidemarkers to be on with the parking light and blink as well, what do i have to do or where to splice!? lmk thanks

did you put any kind of pertective coat on the cuts... cause if not there is a high risk of it rusting...
