Removing tail lights on 03 Civic

I got myself one of those service manuals and the instructions say i need to remove the rear bumper.

Is this true? Seems like a lot of work just to remove tail lights.

it is possible ... take a look at this pic:
(this is from a 08 civic, but it might be the same problem with the 03 ... to remove that bottom screw that holds the tail lights)

I removed my stock ones a while back and didn't have to touch the bumper. But mine's 02. I don't think there's much a difference.

So you basically just removed the inside trunk liner and unscrewed any screw there and pushed any clips out?

It would just make things so much easier if I dont have to touch the bumper.

The service manual I'm following is for 01-02, and if you didn't have to remove the bumper, I think the 03 woudln't be that much different.

you don't have to remove the rear bumper for this job.

You were right, the 03 had the screws at the bottom with the plate bracket. I had to remove the bumper in order to get to that part.

Friggen nuts and screws were super rusted on the car too.. I'm going to make a DIY soon for future reference

Ray, it's always good to have your OEMs lying around. In case your aftermarkets decided to cheap out on you and leaks or cracks or you got bored of it or..you get the idea. I learned my lesson.
