Rear license plate lighting

Is it mandatory for there to be lights shining on the rear license plate, even if it has been relocated to the surface of the rear bumper?

im sure that there's a purpose for that light bulb under the rear bumper, now it being mandatory hmmm well i'm not really sure. search the highway traffic act

i'm sure as long as it lights up your license plate it should be fine

I would assume its mandatory since you can get a ticket for lights that don't work, or different colour lights like blue ones.

buddy i have got this ticket b 4 u need to have a light on the plate and u can evan get a ticket if the light is muddy or w.e and its covered

speaking of lighting on the rear license plate does anyone kno how you could change it so it looks led like or jus a bit better than the cheap ones that r in there?
