Well i have the HID's ordered, and a lot of people are telling me to just throw the HID into the reflector housing, other then that I could either get ebay projectors online for about 200ish which is cheaper then i have found at shops around here around 350 min. So I would say Im in the 200 range budget for an OEM retrofit i guess. :P

Well when you just put it in your stock housing it's just going to look just like all the PnP kit's light every and not uniformed.

Thats where the retro comes in, with a solid projector you've got a solid output of light.

Without hesitation I would go projector all the way, and not those eBay ones those are no good.

You need a projector that is for HID.

Good Luck.

thats why its mostly a DIY mod

off topic question for salman: do you think it would work with the stock EG headlight housing (glass with stupid grooves/lines through them)
or would the design of the headlight affect with the light output.

the lens cover needs to be absolutely clear and clean for optimum light output. for eg owners...the best option is to buy the tyc projector set...and replace the projector lens in there with an OEM one like TSX etc. (i believe its 2.5" in diameter)

or simply get a oem looking aftermarket headlight set with a clear lens...cut out the rear..weigh, balance and do everything needed to put the setup in there.

well there is a site from the states that says they do retrofits:
http://customlightz.com/?p=p_53&sNam...ofit-low-beams

They are charging 250 for 92-00 civics so maybe close to 400 is more realistic I guess...since the service is like extinct over here lol. They look like they do a decent job in the states there

they will do a good job im sure but keep in mind that you will have to send them a spare set of headlights for your car plus you will also pay for return shipping and duties when the job is done.

250 is just labor only...add to that the cost of a spare set of headlights ($100), an oem hid low or high beam kit including projectors, ballasts, ignitors, bulbs and bulb holders (anywhere b/w $300-$500 depending upon model), upgraded wiring harness ($50) plus shipping back and forth.

how do u feel now...lol

the local guy i was earlier referring to charges more or less the same amount.

szuberi is right, if you are not ready to spend about 500-600+ dollars, hold off on the project.

just do all the neccessary research before, asking questions would not hurt anyone, like how i found out that bbarbulo spent 500+ on his retrofit. it gave me an idea of what ill be working with, how much money i need and if its a mod that is worth my money since im driving a 95 civic anyways.

and thanks for the tips about the EG lights szuberi

yea linuxglobal is a good guy got my bulbs off him.

i did my retro but my shrouds look like ***, suberzi wat are the materials you used. I used JnC mounting method on HidPlanet so I need to cover the bottom.

Right now I got fx shrouds/beer can combo lol, btw are those e55 or e46 projectors?

the projectors are E46 bi-xenon. my shrouds are from a range rover..i had to custom cut and fit them...i added that black ring around them to give an overall neat effect...that ring came from a dog dish from walmart..lol

the projectors are mounted through a machined metal plate at the bottom of the reflector housing and not by way of cutting into the rear section of the headlight. this was probably the most cumersome part.
