painting headlight bulbs

Just wondering if anyone here has tried using glass paint to paint their headlight bulbs?

Do you think that it would melt off?

I am asking because i know ppl who have painted their rear signal lights and they have been fine but dunno if anyone has every tried it with their headlight bulbs.

what do you guys think?

too much heat is generated, the paint would burn off or discolour. also might cause the bulbs to burn out all the time.

signal bulbs are on for a fraction of a second at a time, they don't generate enough heat at all... it's like 11W for a signal bulb.... 55W for a low beam.

I painted some dash bulbs many years ago, it lasted like 2 months, and my dash lights are not on very frequently.

^^^ he is talking about headlight bulbs not signal bulbs it is not an extra 3 dollars for headlight bulbs

read the entire thread!!!

regardless they do get way to hot for paint to stay
even dome light bulbs with factory coating has discoloured on me and my bright white turns to an ugly brown

if you were talking about the signals. you can actually go to princess auto or any other place and but the signal silicone sleeves for them, changes then to what ever color you put on. if the bulb blows then you get another and throw the sleeve on the new one. neat concept saving you from buying the colored bulbs, it actually cheaper to go with the sleeves.

**but this is for signal bulbs tho**
