michelin brake dust repellant

has anyone ever used this before? i saw it at canadian tire yesterday. its an aerosol can, and supposedly it will keep your rims cleaner for a longer period of time.

who has used it, and does it work?

never used it... but i wonder if there's anything bad if you spray your brakes with this stuff too, cuz it's bound to happen...

i remember i had some other brake dust repellant stuff before (forget the brand, but it was a big name) and it didn't really work...

the heat generated by breaks will burn off pretty much wahtever you put on them.. thats not much of an issue

i;m jsut wondering if that stuff does anything... my front wheels are dirty within 2 days of washing them

i'm sure it will burn it off, i'm not worried about not being able to stop, i'm wondering if it affects the brakes in any way, glazing of the pads etc...

you might think of getting brake pads that create less dust... i had KVR carbon fibre break pads on my civic and they dusted way WAY less than the stockers... and had increased stopping power too

Silver SiG and ERTW, I don't think the spray goes on the brakes, I think it goes on the rims.

yes, we both know it goes on the rims.. i think his point was the overspray that might get on the brake surfaces

getting other pads is not an option right now

ERTW what about waxing your rims? i've heard about people doing that before, and the brake dust supposedly doesn't stick...

haha i know i'm not answering your question about if it works or not, but after my experiences with the other brand i highly doubt anything 'spray-on' works really well...

on newer cars there is more brake dust on purpose.
the pads actually have a better stopping power then the older oem pads. obviously the downside is the rims keep getting dirty like crazy. i had this same problem on my 7th gen accord. so i bought rim cleaner and cleaned the crap out of it and then coated it with dust repelant.
it works but not alot because these cars give off excessive dust which is hot and eventually it will go thru the protective coat.
