HID kit

Hey im looking into getting a aftermarket HID kit for my 88 CRX.

The kit specifically was the Techone HID Kit, with the 5000k bulbs.

Now im just wondering if im going to be hassled by cops alot since there illegal. The 5000k's are pure white, not a blue or purplish so its not so obvious.

Anyone else with HID's what bulbs are you running, any trouble with police ever?

Thanks

I think they all will say, depends what area you are in...cuz like cops in scarborough are a lot more strict on modified cars then cops in woodbridge...
But more then that, it all depends on how YOU drive. If you drive like a moron and draw alotta attention, they will pull u over even if u didnt do anything major...cuz they know they can alwayz fall back on your HIDs n just say they pulled u over for that if they dnot find drugs n guns n crap.

On the other hand, a whole crap load of ppl have HIDs, some going up to 8000K n they drive everyday n dont get pulled over.
Cops are becomming a lil more easy going on that, but dont expect them to overlook your hids when they are writing you a ticket for other things.

Whatever you do, get an OEM cutoff. Do everyone a favour because you share the road with others.

Im only going to say this once, dont drive and act like an ******* and likely you wont be bothered for the HID's. I have driven beihind cop cars blinding the hell out off them the whole way and they havent done anything about it. If your car is already a cop magnet though then you may have problems but I doubt it. Besides HID bulbs in Canada are still kind of a gray area as far as the law is concerned.

no problem so far...just drive normal and if u can buy a cut off shield and if not then lower ur headlight setting to the lowest then cops wouldn't be on ur back all the time

You don't have any problems with cops, I just recently raised my headlights to the stock requirement and I haven't had any problems. I've been in front, behind, beside and etc to a cop and no problems. Like others have said, if you drive like an *******, you'll get treated like an *******.

There is nowhere in HTA that states anything about HID, modifying stock headlight housing. Only area of concern is the limit of 300 candela, but since HID are stock on many cars, must be under 300 candela.

Drive normal, you should be fine...drive like schumacher in front of a cop and your gonna get ****ed HID or not.

5000K is nice choice, I have 4300K and its pure white...very nice. Tego has 6000K so its got some blue in it, 5000K should be mostly white maybe with just a slight hint of blue.

HID are a grey area for now, until someone is ticketed with this mod and it sets precedent, its going to remain a grey area. I just installed my 4300K tonight and i'm loving it, major improvement. I say buy em up

what do you mean get oem cutoff? you mean retrofit? you can't achieve oem cutoff on hid kits unless you have the casper shield and those kill your light output.

Because I cant fix em "assclown", I recently re aimed them to the best possible setting but due to the fluted style of the Japense headlights it causes the light to scatter every which way and the only way to fix it would to be to retrofit an HID projector. And that type of project aint easy, just as BBarbulo. And switching back to the stock H4H bulbs is also not an option because they are so dim that I can barely see at night

I must admit, OEM bulb is hard to see at times. I love to sit in gf's TSX and the Mini, cut off is so nice.

I guess I will just live with it.

4300k is sunlight so, it's just got a touch of yellow in it but, hard to notice unless parked beside tego. 4500k is pure white. 5000k has a hint of blue. 6000k has more blue....then higher and you're going into the purple ranges. I say 4300k is safest. That's what I've got for mine and it's awesome. Try and imagine Nighthawk headlight bulbs but 5 times brighter.

Cheers,
Buddah.

4500k here and no problems, then again, might are pure white with only the slightest purple tinge that you can barely see. and just to be safe, i aimed them down slightly lower then they were at stock.

Of course if you want to be a little safe. You could go, TYC projectors/HID kit. The projectors are made for halogen bulbs but its better having nothing there.
