Hid D2r For Civic?

I need to know the following:

- What type of bulbs fit Civic D2R or D2S?
- Do I have to modify my factory reflectors? I saw so many people on the web modifying their reflectors, b/c their HIDs are scatering everywhere.
I have read the HID install on TCC, but don't really understand, I know how to install according to the procedures, but don't know why you have to remove the unused fuses.

- Can anyone assist me in installing the HID kit, maybe at a meet or something - never been, so I guess it would be a good opportunity to meet some of the members.

I have seen that page, I know theories on HID but do not have experience in installing. Is D2S the screw in type and D2R the clip in type?

D2S is for Projector housings and D2R are for Reflector housings. These are not screw in type bulbs! These bulbs will not fit into civic halogen housings without modification! Your best bet is to buy Xenon projectors and retrofit them into your stock housings! Halogens housings will not give the best lighting with HID bulbs in them. There will be too much glare to oncoming traffic! I don't know how much of that link you've read, but all the answers are there!
Good luck!

xenondepot.com has plug and play kits for civic reflector housings. But, like said above there will be too much glare and you have the potential of blinding other drivers!

I read somewhere about the glare, that I know. However, I have also seen some sites that have installed HID in a 2000 civic, and it was fine, seems easy, I don't know what to believe, that is why I have to try for myself. And that is why I turn to you guys.

Sweet...how good are your hookups. I was just gonna get the HID that Sport Compact Car installed on their project Civic....complete sealed fog-light type HID kit. The brightness is awesome, but you don't get the benefits of having the HID look in your headlights...plus you have to have fog light looking things in your grille

I saw that issue, I was also thinking for the same thing. If you want the HID look, then use the HID look-a-like bulbs. The HID is bright enough. Get both HID headlights and fog lights, now that is crazy.

CIVIC dude: What are the prices like?

I think HIDs work best in a projector housing. Try to find a set of BMW projectors then retrofit them into aftermarket civic projectors. I may be doing this.

If you have Civic projectors, why would you need one from BMW? Projectors are projectors, if you want the looks, then go for the BMW. But if you were to make your own projectors, then get the BMW and then retrofit.

Projectors are not just projectors!!!! For example the halogen housings are not in focal point for HID bulbs! Most halogen projector housings are ****! They are made of cast iron and the finish is really rough! The lenses are really cloudy as well!

Hella make some high quality projectors for halogen and Xenon applications.... which can be purchased.

OEM projectors are made by Hella, Valeo, Bosch.... these are high quality. That is why BMW, Audi etc... use these projectors!

RETROFIT!

Yeah right! I didn't know that, learned something today. I guess you pay for what you get. I also want to know where to buy.

ryuujin: Is that guy reliable - your HID guy. I emailed him so long, never got a reply. I think I should wait for HID prices to drop, b/c later HID is more comman and are retailed for 200CDN.

he's very reliable, but he's really really slow at replying e-mails but I think that's because ALOT of people order from him and so he doesn't have the chance to reply back. When I e-mailed him, he took FOREVER to reply too, but in the end I got one from him and I was very very pleased
